sub, I know this might be far fetched but I thought to give it a go Wink

Currently in the PVRX plugin TVListings you can select a "Find more" option which will search and display all occurences of that show in all channels at all times. Furthermore you can select a site where a lookup is made and information is scraped and displayed. See attached pictures below for better illustration.

As it seems that Alibert who wrote the TVListings has not been on the forum in a loong time I doubt he is moving his plugin forward to NPVR. Is there any chance this functionality will be included in the original TV Guide?

Thanks,

There will probably be something like 'find more' in future.

I'm not sure about the scraping side of the request though. I'm trying to avoid doing that in the core application, since it's often against the terms and conditions of those websites, and I prefer to stay on the safe side of the law. Some sites allow it, but some arent so clear cut and may be at odds with GBPVR/NPVRs non opensource license.

I think UJB and mvallevand are working on some similar features through NEWA and SearchLite. You can grab cover art for shows through SearchLite already. It's all a work-in-progress of course.

Hey, sub, martin, I just had a thought pop into my head, which is easy when I don't have to do anything about it:

Rather than implementing your own "Find All" function (at least initially), could you just add a "Search" button on any program details screen that would simply call SearchLite with the show's title as the search parameter? I'm assuming all that needs to be done is for sub to add the function and for martin to accept the call, and of course get the button itself added to the skin.

It sounds really simple when I don't have to do it, but maybe it's simple for you too?

SearchLite was designed with the notion of receiving a Notify command from other plugins and retrieving program summary info and covers from thetvdb and themoviedb.org. The xml info is stored in media and movies include the imdb id so a lookup is trivial. The display in SearchLite and as metadata too.

That to me sounds like a very good approach. The advantage of TVListings and what I am looking to accomplish is that you can reach the search function from a selected show (with prefilled information about what you are searching for) rather than having to enter a specific search function.
