RonR Wrote:Hi Hoborg,

I had a very similar problem with hauppauge Nova-T-500 under WinXP, the crash would come towards the end of the scan. I downloaded and installed the latest Hauppauge drivers, and the problem went away:

Version of the drivers now installed is 4.3.27240

BTW the scans were always stable under GBPVR.

Could you check on the Hauppauge website for updated drivers for your card?

Cheers,
Ron

I already have last one :/
All is working fine under GB-PVR.

sub, can i ask what exactly nPVR doing after scan finish? Does it somehow working with graph - close/open?

Yesterday, i try to scan them, but this time with SAF uninstalled and it was finished without crash.

This is something i dont understand, SAF only affect direct show, so i need to track down what can cause the crash...

Demultiplexer? Deafault video renderer? Any ideas?

Ah, that's interesting.

I cant think of anything off hand. Capture graphs also use directshow. They dont use renderers, but they do use the demultiplexer filter.

@sub:

But if graph building fail to add demultiplexer, then nPVR wont be able to scan any channel, right?
So why it crash after scan?

I will try something...

It certainly shouldnt crash. It does try to handle any error conditions gracefully, but its hard to tell extactly what'll happen in some scenarios if certain filters are unavailable etc.

@sub:

I located the source of crash. It only happend on WinXP with DVB fix installed.
I dont known if you ever heard about DVB fix, so let me explain:

There was an issues with DVB on WinXP and Microsoft release an hotfix for it, but only for WinXP MCE edition. This DVB fix simply replace 3 files (psisrndr.ax, mpeg2data.ax and PsisDecd.dll). Here is more info.

And fixed "psisrndr.ax" rev. 6.5.2715.2883 will cause nPVR to crash, but older rev. 6.5.2600.5512 works.

That mean nPVR will be crashing on WinXP MCE.

SAF5 install this patch to WinXP automatically.

Do you have any ideas for workaround to make nPVR working with "psisrndr.ax" rev. 6.5.2715.2883?

No sorry. I dont have XP here, so I'm not that familiar with these old Windows patchs. I think you'd better off leaving the old files in place when installing on XP if the patches require XP MCE.

Glad you found the source of the problem though.

@sub:

Well, this patch is for example needed to make Media Portal working on WinXP, without it scaning will crash.
