Channels with identical names-manually creating a channel?

I live in a region where I receive two versions of some of the same channels (one locally and one from a nearby city). As the show lineups are not identical, I would like to enter them both. However, when I scan stations, I can only insert one or the other, presumably because the names are identical.

I have tried copying the tuning request information from one, and manually adding a channel with a different name. However, when I paste the data into the "tuning request" field, it vanishes as soon as I leave the field.

Can anyone tell me how to manually enter a tuning request into a channel, or otherwise resolve the conflict caused by identical channel names?

I seem to have solved this by using SQLite to update the database directly. Here is what I did:

1) Tune in "version 2" of the station.
2) Copy the tuning request from the capture source, and paste it into notepad.
3) Delete the station.
4) Carefully tune in only "version 1" of the station on all capture sources.
5) Manually add a station on all capture sources, using a modified name.
6) Exit config.
7) Copy the gbpvr.db3 file.
8) Run SQLite on the copy.
9) Issue SELECT * FROM SOURCE_CHANNEL_MAPPING to view the last few entries, which show the manual channel name but otherwise have mostly blank fields
10) Issue

Update Source_Channel_Mapping
set tuning_request="PASTED FROM NOTEPAD",enabled="Y"
where oid=FIRST NUMBER ON EACH LINE

as many times as necessary

11) exit sqlite
12) stop the recording service
13) copy gbpvr.db3 again (to be safe)
14) delete gbpvr.db3
15) rename the edited database copy to gbpvr.db3
16) restart the recording service.

Not sure if it would work in your situation, but in some odd cases I create a new "source" that uses the same tuner as an existing one. With this you can create a new channel name and map it to a second scan entry. I mainly use this when wanting to use more than one EPG for DVB-T.
GBPVR knows it is a shared tuner, so no conflicts occur.

I'm glad you mentioned this. I did it once before on your advice, in that case to use one of the tuners secondarily for live TV. However, I can't remember what I to copy all the station information across. was creating a new tuner name from the same tuner source sufficient?

The reason I use it now (although in truth, I don't have to with npvr) is for dvb-t channels 301 and 303, the red button channels.
I use the Radio Times for an EPG for everything, but 301 and 303 aren't included.
By setting up a new source, but using the same tuner as an existing source I can setup just the two channels, map them to whatever and select the dvb EPG this time.

In your case you might be able to create a new source, add a new channel name and map it to whatever it scanned as. I can't try it out as I only get signal from one transmitter.
