Hello.

I've run into an issue with my MVP device, I have stupidly set up with a prefered device/ip address. It's an wired unit rather than a wireless unit but I don't appear to be able to get into the setup menu.

Any suggestions please.

Have you tried cutting the power for a few seconds?

You can also get into the main config menu by browsing to the MVP's own ip address.

The only way to change a remembed IP is to connect to a Hauppauge server.

Unplug it for about 2 mins, works with mine, any settings it saved from there are always wiped, however this assumes the dongle.bin file isnt corrupt on the GBPVR / NPVR server... Ive had issues with NPVR not starting the MVP unless EVERYTHING is happy in the config.xml file.

Sometimes is better to load another NPVR somewhere and test the MVP is you think something is broken..... i had a number of issues from the DHCP server (real firewall), to WIndows firewalls and damaged dongle.bin files sometimes.
Many Thanks
Ashley

Folks,

I'll rephrase my question.

My MVP is working fine, I can connect to the NPVR server on Windows which is sitting on the 10.0.0.202 IP Address. I have a DHCP range which provides the MVP IP address, which is 10.0.0.208 (perfered IP address) set by the Mac Address of the MVP.

When I orginially set up the MVP unit I set 10.0.0.202, Unless I have a my server at 10.0.0.202 the MVP will not respond to ARP request for the mac address becuase it's looking for requests from 10.0.0.202.

What keys on the MVP remote will bet me back into the MVP configuration menu so I can delete the 'prefered' server settings.

Thanks .....

Temporarily disable NPVR. Go into Windows "Services" and start the two MVP services that are stopped and set to manual (this assumes that you did install the Hauppauge MVP server on the NPVR server at some time to do the initial setup of the MVP). Start both services and then reboot the MVP. As the MVP boots you'll something like "Press OK within 3 seconds to set preferred server". Do that and you'll get to the screen that lets you finish the selection. Once completed, go back into Windows Services and stop the MVP services set them back to manual. Restart NPVR. Restart the MVP. It should now find the server and connect.

Harry

Thanks for these instructions, I'd not realised that I could only get in during the initial boot for a few seconds......

Thanks once again.
