no picture

I get sound but no picture.

GBPVR would crash when it detected a channel so I tried NPVR instead. This works but I get sound but no picture.

I#m using Vista with a Hauppauge HVR-900 H. It works well with the software that came with the card.

logs showed errors starting DirectX v9 so I installed that - still no picture

Any clues as to what is wrong?

I'm in the UK - Cheltenham.

What MPEG2 video decoder do you have selected on the Decoders screen?

Had a roxio one selected.

Changed it to a hauppauge one and surprise surprise it now works.

I had assumed it would be the renderer and had tried all of the options there.
