Problem upgrading to NPVR

Hi, trying to upgrade to NPVR on my media PC but every time I try to do a scan of either freeview (dvb-t) or satalite the scan starts, appears to be working then NPVR locks up with the error message "Unexpected error tuning: NPVR System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." and has to be killed from task manager to get out.

The tuners are all working fine with GBPVR and I have managed to install NPVR on my main / test PC which all works fine. Can't see what I am doing differently, (sure I've just missed something obvious) can any one see a pointer in the logs?

I remember someone else had this same problem, but I cant remember exactly what caused it.

Do you have SAF installed?

Hi Sub thanks for responding. What do you mean by SAF ? When I looked it up it said "Stand Alone Filters", is that a particular codec pack or am I barking up the wrong tree? I want to say no but don't want to miss lead you if I imght have loaded it with some thing else, is their some thing can look for to check?

I just remember that the other user that had this problem had installed something, and he found uninstalling it made the problem go away. Unfortunately I cant remember what it was.

Either way, when the next release is out in the next week, I'll be better placed to give you patches etc to help find the cause and resolve (if you dont manage to resolve it in the mean time).

So I'm assuming you fixed the problem and never updated this thread? I'm having the same problem.

Having gone round one of those loops where you find your own old thread whislt looking to solve a problem.... I then find that I never posted the fix for this which is even more anoying. As usal it was not caused by Sub's excellent programing but a fix I had installed to try and fix a playback issue ,which don't think cured it at the time but got accidently left in as it did not at the time appear to cause a problem. Looking back it was probaly the cause of many a scan crash in gbpvr! There was I think a file or two extra that had been installed that I deleted to solve. If I ever remeber what it was exactly I'll update. Sorry for not being as helpful as I could have been.
