Ok it is finally time to upgrade from GBPVR to NPVR
My AMD 3200 GBPVR machine just blew the drive controller and I cannot access my hard drives anymore. As it was running a PVR250 on XP. I believe I need to upgrade the card to work on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. (sadd day as the little 3200 ran for 5 or more years without a hicup just a new drive 2 years back>

So my question is what do you all recommend for a new card? I am still using the analog side as I don't have the digital box although I could get one I assume.
Thanks for any input.

If you have more than 1 system you want to record to, you can't beat the HDHomerun which you can find on sale now.
I've had an HVR2250 (dual analog/dual QAM) running for a while and it's worked very well. With multirecord, I'm basically set. I'm a big fan of Hauppauge as they keep the drivers updated for a long time.
As your in Canada, I'm not really sure what's best for you so I'd heed the advise of others before my advise.

If ClearQAM is all you need, then the HDHR's are great. I added a HD-PVR since I wanted to be able to record encrypted QAM programming as well. Had I waited another couple of months I would likely have opted for the internal Colossus card rather than the external HD-PVR, but if you're running a very small case that lacks expansion space, the HD-PVR might be a better choice.

I should add that I've used the HDHR on a 64-bit Win7 machine but the HD-PVR I have only used oin a 32-bit Win7 machine. I believe others have used it on 64-bit, though.

Thank you for the information.
Where can I get this on sale as it is only online up here and the price is high.
I live by the Washington border so I have a place I can ship too and pick up from.

Thank you Brad

I will look into this as well as the Homerun.

newegg.com did have the dual tuner but it looks like only the single tuner is available. Seems like only Amazon has it but it's over $200. You might take a look at this page and see if anyone has them in stock. http://www.silicondust.com/wheretobuy/us/

That's odd. I bought my HDHR almost two years ago from eBay for $137+shipping (dual tuner) and new ones were pretty readily available at the time for around $160-170. Usually computer hardware depreciates, not appreciates...

I'm guessing that it is because they have stopped production of the dual tuner HDHR in favor of the HDHR Prime. (Although I don't think it has been released yet.)

That's a legitimate scenario I suppose. I know there are other opinions floating around about the HDHR, but I personally love mine. I can see why demand for them would still be steady. I am disappointed the HDHR Prime won't work with NPVR, but I've mostly gotten over it.
