ATI Theater 550 Pro with NPVR

Yes, all are snow and static. There is only one input on the card and there is no set top box. It is a direct cable connection from the wall. A split from this same cable is attached to a similar build machine with the HVR-2250 and it works just fine and I was able to scan my analog channels with it.

Like I said, this card worked very well with GBPVR on XP and I was just trying it with NPVR to see if I got a better picture than I do with the 2250 (like it was with GBPVR). I may just have to pick up a newer card to install on this machine.

To be honest, I've got no idea. There is no sign of any problems in your logs. Given you're seeing snow, it's definitely viewing the output of the tuner, so the it'd pretty much come down to the channel tuned (which looks fine in the logs) or the signal being supplied.

All the Theater Pro 550s that I see on a Google search have two coax connectors, one labeled CATV (cable) and one labeled ANT/FM (over-the-air). Are you sure you have the coax connected to the right connector? Seems like it should be the CATV connector if you're on analog cable.

Nope, only one coax coming out the back. Just strange it's not working as it has worked fine for five years now. I'm going to try a different card. Thanks for all your help. You are guys are the best.

I picked up an ATI Theater 650 Pro and am getting similar results. With the 650, however, I am able to scan and pick up all my channels. Still getting the snow and static when I go to watch live tv. I hook up my HVR-950 USB and I get picture (just not as good as the old ATI 550 on GBPVR on XP).

I installed NPVR on Windows 8 (Note: AFTER setting up Windows 8 Media Center).
However, the "Devices" tab is totally empty, not showing the ATI 550 on the list and specifically not allowing to add it for use.

I thought perhaps Media Center is taking control of the driver, but it is not operating at this time.

Any idea?
