Sub,

I originially reported the issue here (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post423313) thinking it was a UltraXMLTV problem. However, after running a EPG update from the NPVR client I see that the behaviour is different from the scheduled EPG update which is run by the recording service.

1. The scheduled EPG update at 7:00 AM starts running the PostupdateEPG.bat file but the UltraXMLTV process gets stuck and needs to be forced closed.

2. Running an EPG update from the NPVR Client also starts the PostupdateEPG.bat but here the UltraXMLTV process finishes as normal.

Anyway, sorry about the double posting but I want to make sure I am adressing the correct sub-forum.

Logs covering both 1 and 2 above as well as bat files are attached.

Thanks,

I cant see NextPVR doing anything wrong here. It starts running PostUpdateEPG.bat at 7:01, then waits for it to complete. You must have killed UltraXMLTV at 7:41, then things continue. This all happens on a special EPG processing thread though, so it hanging up didnt affect it's ability to record etc. It would have stopped the next EPG update from happening though if you hadnt killed UltraXMLTV.

2011-11-01 07:01:59.265 [DEBUG][8] About to run C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Scripts\PostUpdateEPG.bat
2011-11-01 07:41:54.341 [DEBUG][8] C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Scripts\PostUpdateEPG.bat has completed

A manual EPG update from a client PC wont do anything.

Ok, I might have been unclear in my original post. All you write is correct and also what I was able to understand from the logs (NRecord.log). You are also correct that I did kill the Ultra process at 7:41. However when I do an EPG update from NPVR Settings/Channels menu or using the System Plugin the same postupdateEPG.bat is called and here it is finishing without a problem (see the NPVR.log).

So my conclusion is that the postupdateEPG.bat is called/handled differently depending on where it is called?

Btw, when I wrote NPVR client I was refering to the NPVR.exe on my HTPC. I do not have any other PC clients.

When you run with NRecord you run at a different system level permissions. It's possible that ultraxmltv or sc fails when you run from NPVR rather than hanging.

Yes, what Martin said. It's likely ultraxmltv or sc doesnt have the permissions to do something it's trying to do.

It might be a firewall issue.

I also think that I recall previously having an issue where ultraxmltv was trying to display a dialog (which it can't do when run from NRecord, but can do when run "interactively" from a logged in session).

Thanks for the input guys. Something is definitely different when UltraXMLTV is running "interactively". The same happens when I set up a "Windows Task Shedule" trying to run PostupdateEPG.bat. I guess I take the question back to Zehd.
