Sorry Martin,

I misssed your post. I don't have that exact setting, but it always works normal from the laptop. Under "power management" I can make appropriate settings. If I find something interesting, I will post because I had the problem again today, just before (coincidence?) the next issue.

From post #4 on, I thought I had to focus on the wake through the MVP issue in general, but I think I may have caught a problem for which I started this thread:
For the children I programmed a recording through the MVP (not saying that's the cause, just being complete), that had already started (maybe that's the cause of the issue?). No waketimer was set. I had to keep to pc awake because I didn't want to take the risk the pc would go asleep and the kids would be disappointed that the show failed.

See attachments.

Your laptop might be sending some other form of WOL. I am just saying that I see that the MVP is sending the magic packets and I consider that discussion over from my perspective.

I wouldn't expect you need to set a wakeup event for LiveTV or for events that are currently recording. If you're PC is falling asleep during recordings that could be related to a problem Sheik Yerbouti is having http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...-a-wake-up

Martin,

Discussion closed, just want to add my latest thoughts:
It's not on the pc side if I can wake the pc from the laptop and it's not from the mvp side "software-wise". I've got the laptop connected wireless.

My conclusion is that is must be a hardware issue from the mvp or wiring from the mvp to the router.
I am going to try to watch from the laptop, any network traffic that the mvp sends to the router.

Regaring the wakupevent, I think it might be the same issue as on the other thread you pointed me to. Posting further there.
Thanks for the help.

I used wireshark too and can confirm the mvp has been sending the wol.
Next time the pc can't be woken, I'll try wireshark again to see if at than the mvp is also sending the wol.

But, I think it may be the same problem as being described in the other thread, that in the midst of the pc going to sleep the mvp is sending the wol (as I started the mvp) and the pc doesn't respond at that moment to a wol request. I'll report back if I can confirm.
EDIT: found some old notes, turns out that the issue in post #5, was indeed caused by the fact that the pc doesn't respond to wol when it's entering sleep mode. That means that the 2 problems I described in this post are indeed interconnected.
