Yes, I would like to know what it was so maybe it can be resolved without having to reinstall.
What, me worry?

sub,
I wonder, also. I usually prefer to try to figure out why a program isn't working instead of just reinstalling it. By reinstalling, I may now never know what the problem was. However, I was seeming to hit a wall in determining the problem, and being without a functioning copy of NPVR, I gave in and tried the reinstallation, as JavaWiz did.
Note that I did have some problems with the previous version of NPVR, as well, although it was useable. I had installed several of the patches that you had supplied for the various problems reported by others. Perhaps some of those patches were carried forward and not compatible with the new version of NPVR. Or, maybe there was something not right in my Windows registry. I'm just guessing; you would know better than I whether that could have been the problem.
Thanks again for trying to help with this.

Assuming you are using the same installer, it can really only be the program and dlls, the database upgrade, or the config.xml upgrade. When upgrading it is essential to close the recording service, ntray and make sure that all nextpvr sessions are closed.
I use a batch file that does the follow first

Code:
net stop "npvr recording service"
taskkill /IM NextPVR.exe /f
taskkill /IM NTray.exe /f

After the upgrade I always check NRecord.log to see that everything looks normal. The database upgrade and config.xml changes show up there.

I did all of those (stop the service, the NextPVR program and the tray), although I didn't check my process list to be certain that they were all really stopped (there was nothing to make me think any of them were still running). I didn't check the log, though. Next time....

<AlternateOSDForMissingVideo>True caused the problem. Changing it to False eliminated LiveTV going black.

That's what I suspected when I wrote post #15.

It does go black only on my main htpc, not my testrig. I'll check the OSD-setting when I get home tonight.
