I use mc2xml and the data is coming from Microsoft Legacy.
The identifier EP00687031.0018.0/2 is supplied by Microsoft. It may be that where this identifier is not supplied it is generated. I my search for the specifications for this identifier it was sometimes referred to as a tmsid (Tribune Media Services). EP is used for most shows. TV Series especially but sometimes SH. I see SH used for some every day news shows and game shows. I see SH00000001.0000 used for paid programming.
