For the 2nd week in a row, my recording of Smash tonight only recorded for about 40 seconds instead of the 1 hour + (1 min pre- & 5 min post-) padding. Looking at the log files, I'm not seeing any errors or reason for the problem. At record time, it did get "moved" to a different tuner.

Any ideas????

your log shows a completely normal 1 hour recording with padding. Nothing at all happened to shorten the recording. All I can guess is that for reasons unknown your hdhomerun stopped delivering data during the recording.

You have a DCR-2650, right? When this happens to me, usually it's because the USB connection has gotten "lost". There's a new firmware available, I haven't tried it yet but you might want to look at it.

I also have this problem a lot less with my system that I turn off every night than I did with the one that I was leaving on continuously, for what that's worth.

it doesn't look like that particular recording was made with a DCR-2650, but rather a regular non-cablecard 2-tuner HD Homerun.

Oops, you are right. I saw the DCR-2650 in one of the logs, and missed that it wasn't used for that recording.

As Emily Litella might say, never mind.

Yes, Johnson is correct these were recorded with the HDHR Dual. The fact that the exact same problem (Smash only recording about 40 seconds) occurred twice in a row leads me to believe that it wasn't just some random glitch.

I'm guessing that the problem is somehow related to the HDHR Firmware upgrade to version 20130328 that I did on 4/24 because the same recording schedule worked OK before then (4/13, 4/20) but has "failed" in the same way both times since then (4/27 & 5/4).

What is the file size? Does the recording actually end early or do you just get to a point where you can't skip forward or back?

The 2 bad files are both about 151 MB. Good files are 6+ GB. So, yes, the recording stops early.

Yeah, that's definitely ending early so it blows the theory I had. Off the top of my head, what do you have set as the application in the HDHomeRun Setup and is the dynamic tuner allocation enabled (I recommend turning this off)?
