I am officially at my witts end here and very frustrated. I humbly request a smart person to post an entire WiKi page for the integration of nPVR, WinTV-DCR-2650 and an XBMC environment for dummies like me. Anyway...
Live TV is the last component I need to complete my XBMC media center. I chose to switch to the WinTV-DCR-2650 for my tuner because of the success stories and I could not get my InfiniTV 4-Tuner card to work with nPVR. I went as far as a clean install of a patched Windows7 SP1 system.
I followed the WiKi Quick Start steps to a "T" to ensure all components are present for the install. Then executed NPVRSetup_2_6_2.exe. (Just so you know - when I use this 2650 with Windows Media Center I have no problems. My problem is with nPVR.)
Once installed I don't get anything under devices. I have to install the HD Home Run software to get the drivers necessary to communicate with my device. Hauppauge really dorked up there!
Moving on - after installing the HDHR software my tuner card shows up and I go to the device setup as recommended and scan for channels. After it is done on the first tuner I chose to export channels and found a bug in nPVR where it does not escape the ampersand (&) character during export and creates an invalid xml file. (A&E is the first channel error here in the US)
Once I select the second tuner it kindly allows me to copy the information from the first so I don't have to wait for it to finish. Then I go to Live TV to do a test and get nothing... a blank screen... I have to kill the application to go back and try again.
So I'm stuck. No live TV unless I want to use WMC. If there is a tutorial out there I can follow that anticipates the errors I'm having great! But if not; I challenge that smart person out there to come up with a tutorial for this configuration (as well as an InfiniTV tutorial because I'd much rather use it!)
