It's my birthday next month and I'm notoriously bad with coming up with ideas for presents I'd like but I figured an Android dongle with HDMI output, bluetooth and wifi might be fun to play around with.

There are quite a few out there but I've no idea how good any of them are. If anyone has suggestions at around the £50 price tag and running at least Android v4.x I'd be interested to know.

Cheers,
Brian

I recently bought a Sumvision Cyclone X2 Android STB for under £60. It is a bit bigger than the usual "dongle" but its main advantage is a GPU so easily plays 1080P video and HD iPlayer content using XBMC. At the moment the standard version of XBMC does not support GPUs so you have to use a development version but support will be in the next version. Being a bit larger means there is room for a range of audio and video sockets and 4 USB sockets useful for memory keyboard or mouse.

Thanks for the reply - I'll take a look. I have been looking at STB style too as a lot of the dongles seem a bit under-powered for what I'd want to do.

Cheers,
Brian

Actually you probably can't get more powerful Android then the RK3188 dongles have except on really high end phones. Unless you really care about xbmc you have lots of good choices.

Unfortunately so far I haven't been able to find any RK3188 based devices which fit comfortably within budget - perhaps I'll rethink the idea and try to come up with some other gadget / toy.

Cheers,
Brian
