Live TV - How to change mpeg2 to h264 on fly?

Is there a way to set up NextPVR to stream my incoming mpeg2 (from tv station/tower) instantly to h264 so I can play it on a different device without stutter? I want to send it to a device that supports h264 playback in hardware, but struggles with software decoding of mpeg2. (I hope that makes sense.)

There's no way to do that.

In theroy, you could set up a ffmpeg transcoding in ParalellProcessing.bat, provided your cpu is fast enough.

Video stream, stream to me for iOS does this for iPhones, iPads. If android there may be similar.
These use a pc program to browse the file system and transcode on the fly. PC needs to be powerful enough though....but any relatively recent one should be fine. Or you could use plex and my nextpvr channel.

My answer was probably a bit short. I answered for LiveTV, and for what NPVR can do on it's own. Without more information on what the OP is exactly trying to do, what device is involved, and how it accesses the stream, it's tough to talk about what the other possibilities are.

HDHR 4 is supposed to do on the fly QAM/ATSC LiveTV to h264 streaming, but it's been a long time coming.
NEWA web and , X-NEWA and X-NEWA Chameleon on XBMC can do on the fly VLC transcoding of LiveTV from NextPVR I have had good success with this, here is h264 on mpeg2 over the internet http://youtu.be/QGr_50nYimc The transcode url for ffmpeg can do it from any app that takes URL's. nDroid uses this approach.
