Live TV streaming and transcoding in any shape, form, or fashion...

Is it possible...? Tried nDroid. Nope. Tried NEWA. Nope. Essentially can't stream live TV to any device other than another desktop (running NPVR as a client) on my local LAN. The only way I've been able to get live TV streamed/transcoded to another device (Android Galaxy SIII or IPAD) is by using VLC to stream it (input source for VLC http://localhost:8866/live?channel=88). VLC transcodes it fine but of course doesn't serve as a useful front end from the client side.

So... I've spent a lot of time trying to get this to work. Am I wasting my time? Wonder if I'm going to have to check out Mediaportal. I hope not. Hate to have to start from scratch all over again with another piece of software.

The core of NextPVR only supports native ts file. sub added experimental transcoding that he doesn't wholeheartedly support but nDroid uses it anyway and a lot of people have problems. Some of success though which is why it is there. Mediaportal might be better for you.

Live TV transcoded streaming through does work consistently for me from Android using XBMC with the X-NEWA plugin but it is not small screen friendly. YMMV.

I replied to you on the other thread (Streaming settings???). With your hint I was able to finally get NVPR/NEWA to transcode to my Android device. The steps I had to go through are in that post. All told... it was ugly. But the final outcome was that is streamed live TV nicely. So the core functionality is possible. If only it could be easily/transparently invoked in NEWA (or if nDroid could do it). IOW's if the folks developing NPVR and it's clients could support it adequately in their software...

The skins weren't designed for a tablet or phone. I guess if you navigated NEWA that wouldn't be a problem. It probably would save you time installing XBMC and X-NEWA on a PC to get the hang of it.

Remember posts save you time but not everyone else.
