Raspberry PI Questions

1. I Downloaded the windows installer
http://www.xbian.org/getxbian/

2. with the installer selected XBIan1.0 RC3 from within the installer

3. then stuck card in raspberrypi and away it went

The biggest issue i had was changing the Workgroup to MYnetworkNAME so the raspberry pi would show on my network with its name.(so didnt have to use the ip number)

Had to shh in to change it which is all greek to me
Openelec i could just use WinSCP to change setting xml etc but xbian its all locked down and wouldnt let me change files unless you ssh into the machine.

Xbian has a setting in the xbmc ui to change workgroup but it doesnt appear to work or change what needs to be changed

demise as in official RASPBMC releases from Sam Nazarko moving to OSMC. I believe that miappa is still running some unofficial RASPBMC builds? Or have I missed something? What was the big update last month? Was that through RASPBMC settings? I didn't see it will check.

think I managed to get the RC2 kind of working but RC3 totally bummed out on me @ install.

For me actually getting the pi available as a device viewable in a windows workgroup I don't think is an issue as I don't see why I would need that? What do you use that for?

The bit I was really unsure about is that if I try to use xbian config settings nothing happens after loading to 26% so I can't play around with that bit of the gui.

Comfortable with ssh but I do like a gui!

What I do like about xbian is it seems to load really fast.

What I don't like is that the xbian forum seems to be very quiet and nearly all talk is from peeps who obviously are very Linux literate, which I am not :eek:

I have swapped out my XBIAN boot card for a RASPBMC one.

But Mr Johnson. The very latest xbmc nightly that shows up in RASPBMC settings for Helix is xbmc-14-20140428

That's 7 month's ago so would really like to know where this big update was last month? Unless miappa on kodi? Which is unofficial?
