Some weeks ago adding a new program to the nPVR schedule failed to get the program listed in scheduled recordings. This happened repeatedly with the program, The Good Wife and the program following on the same channel, CSI. I thought it odd as those were scheduled to air at 9:30p-10:30p and 10:30p-11:30p. Then I found that The Good Wife was pushed back a half hour due to a sports event overtime. Charter Communications didn't bother to air CSI. That was 2 Sundays ago. Yesterday, again The Good Wife was aired a half hour late and CSI was not aired. I had found out what I thought was the reason that scheduling wouldn't show the programs ready to record ahead of time. I went to The Good Wife and changed the parameters to one time program and it's date/time changed to red indicating it would be recorded. Also I added 31 minutes post-program padding. I was pretty sure the problem had to do with Charter not indicating that the program was New. Then just now I went to add The Newsroom and I'm getting the same failure. It's a first run Season 3 Episode 1 and it wouldn't schedule as only record new episodes on the channel. Since they're going to air what looks like all season 2 before the first episode of season it means that I'll have to schedule each episode I want separately.

I have NextPVR 3.2.9.

So, does this seem like Charter not providing the correct information? My Tivo gets the same wrong recording time as Schedules Direct but does record the timeslot as only New episodes while nPVR fails.

That would only happen if Tivo is getting different information than Schedules Direct.

Charter offers two digital lineups in this area and both are identical for the described programs.

I'm pretty sure that you are seeing the same problem that I had with CSI. When CBS ended up not actually airing the episode a couple of weeks ago, NPVR "thought" that it had recorded that episode, so it put it in the recorded episode history table. Then when the same episode showed up in the EPG last night, it passed the "new" episode test, but it failed the "it's already been recorded here" test, so NPVR didn't schedule it to record. If you go into the Guide and manually select to record the episode, then the "already recorded test" is ignored, and it does get recorded. (Fortunately for me, I noticed that it was scheduled earlier in the day so that I could manually schedule it.)

Unfortunately, there is not any way from the GUI interface to tell NPVR when a recording ends up not actually being what the guide data originally said it was supposed to be. If there was, then you could clear the recording history for that episode before deleting the "wrong" recording. And when it eventually gets rescheduled and aired, the normal NPVR recurring recording logic would record the episode for you.

Okay. And I noticed later when I tried to program The Newsroom manually that I had no available tuners and would have needed to eliminate one of the three programs already scheduled as my HDHR3 only has three tuners. Interestingly tho, when I tried scheduling all new episodes of The Newsroom on the channel it gave no visible objection but didn't turn the listing red and no positive indication that it hadn't taken. It was only when I tried recording it as a single instance recording that the listing was turned red and I was shown that there would be no tuner available.
