First of all I am running npvr on XP SP2 which I have to since I also run GBPVR. This combination has been running fine for the past 6 months or more.

Two tuner devices

Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 USB2(AVS) and WinTV HVR-900H (USB). GBPVR controls the WinTV PVR2 and NPVR the WinTV device.

This problem just started to occur and I am sure I made no changes (certainly no Windows updates since this is XP!).

When beginning a recording the NPVR tray icon goes red for about a minute and then it crashes with the above error message. I upgraded to 3.3.8 but the same problem occurs. If I record using GBPVR using the WinTV device (DVB-T) it's fine.

The logs are attached. One of them looks it shows a relevant error but I don't now what that means and I can't work out why it should start occurring now.

Thanks

I can't see any obvious errors there (other than complaining about Directx 9 noting available, but that's ok).

If you try scheduling a recording, do you end up with a playable file?

I just tried that. NPVR starts and the icon changes to red and then the crash occurs. Only about 9K bytes gets recorded.

These are the logs again. There errors in it but nothing as you said that looks untoward

Why on earth are you still running gbpvr?

There''s a Microsoft bug in XP that requires another dll in XP. Move on to get a better experience with NextPVR

There might be some other clues on what is failing in the event logs.

Because in NPVR direct control of a STB using an IR Blaster was removed and I need the PVR program to be able to send IR signals to my STB using a USB-UIRT. There are apparently some third party programs that can do this but I can't make them work and GPVR works just fine. All I do is record using GBPVR - no playback or any other complicated functions. So there is no need to update it.

But now I can't use NPVR to record at all since it dies as I have described in this thread.
