Hopefully I posted this in the right sub-forum, if not, please move.

I have been using NPVR 3.6.6 with a Hauppauge WinTV HVR 2255, running on Windows 7 (64bit), i5-3570 with 8GB RAM. The system is left on 24/7 and is set to "sleep" after 1 hour of use.

NPVR runs well and captures appropriately about 75% of the time. I've noticed that it is having lots of problems lately and reporting that "device failed to start" when it tries to record a scheduled program. The only thing I've been able to do to solve the problem is to restart the computer nightly - this seems to let the next scheduled program record, but then stops again.

Any thoughts would be welcome. I've attached the most recent log files as requested in the "sticky"

Thank you for your time and help

You're sure you don't have any other software using the device?

The only other thing I suspect is the HVR-2255 doesn't like something about your setup, and it's leading to the driver failing. Hard to know what that might be though. You could look for a new version of the drivers for this device.

I am not sure of the impact but you seem to record some shows at exactly the same time you do do an EPG update, this was a problem at one time. I'd move the epg update time to a safer hour. Also you have ATSC EPG update with SD, why not just use SD?

Thank you both for the suggestions. According to the device maker - I've got the most current driver. I don't see anything else using the device, I had tried the VinTV software originally, but deleted it. I moved the EPG to another time to see if that is one of the problems. As for the program guide, I hadn't caught that. I changed it to just use SD - the channel in question was the local PBS station, not sure if that had anything to do with it or not.

Might try to uninstall the driver and see what happens.

Thanks again

Patrick
