On many occasions, I have been disappointed when I look forward to a new recording from my HD-PVR only to discover that a minor power glitch during the night turned it off!

I would like to suggest a new command line switch that will tell HaupBlast.exe to send a Power On command to the blaster, delay(?), then send the channel.

Thanks...

HaupBlast.exe couldn't do this if it wanted. It's only able to pass a channel number to the Hauppauge IR software - the interface has no way for it to request a 'power on'.

Maybe with something like "event ghost". That might require a separate USBIRT controller. You could also put your STB on a backup power UPS/APC. Hauppauge hasn't updated their IR control software in a decade. From the rumor I heard, the people who wrote it are not even there anymore and the current staff isn't sure what launguage it was written in or doesn't have he original development file. Hauppauge hasn't instructed their staff to rewrite the code from scratch. Demand isn't high enough. That's why using multiple colossus or HD PVRs can't take advantage of their onboard IR blasters. The software doesn't have the ability to create separate profiles for each controller. Anyway, that was the rumor I was told. Personally I gave up on IR blasting and switched to network IP switching. Way better if you have that capability. Otherwise there is USBIRT.

Before buying any alternatives, check that your STB supports a discrete Power On key. Most of my devices including my STB just has a Power Toggle.

A couple things:
- I second the suggestion to get put it on a UPS. You don't want a one second power loss to make you miss the rest of a recording.
- My Verizon FiOS STB's turn on if you press the Menu button when they are turned off. So, I have a script that sends Menu and Exit before the channel numbers. If it is already on, it just displays the menu briefly. If it is off, it turns on.

Note that I use IRSS, but HaupBlast.exe probably supports Menu & Exit, too.

Thanks, ElihuRozen.

What is IRSS? Web search turned up nothing relevant to infrared control.

It is the IR Server Suite. It supports receiving and blasting. I am not sure if this is the same version I have, but here is a link: https://www.team-mediaportal.com/extensi...suite-irss

There is a reference to it in the NexPVR Wiki: https://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php...teControls

This has been partially resolved..

This will keep your stb idle. I programmed it and its not great programming, but it works.  You have to use task scheduler to modify a few things to make it work how you may like.
