NextPVR records the stream exactly as it is received from the tuner .. Does the HDhomerun software display a good picture? If yes, then any picture problems will be on the playback due to, as Sub says, most probably the video decoder.

Lots of folk here are happy with the quality from LAV decoders ... https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases

I ended up re-scanning my tuners again to show all of the stations. I won't delete any thing time. I can't seem to catch a break on anything though...

I opened NextPVR through Kodi and in there I can choose to have the guide only show the channels I put into a group (I grouped the channels that I actually get). Next I wanted to set a recording of The Simpsons. I did right click and chose Record. This made it a one-time record. So then I went into the timers and tried to modify it to record all new episodes on that channel but now I continue to get an unexpected error. I saw a previous post saying something about NextPVR getting its guide data after Kodi got its data so I cleared the Kodi data so it could download it again to match the NextPVR but that didn't do anything. So now what is the problem?

I would also like to organize the guide by the channel name but I can't figure that out either. I found one past thread regarding this where the person had both WMC and NPVR but that didn't seem like it would help me since my computer doesn't have WMC. I would think this would be an easy menu toggle where you can choose to organize by channel number or channel name. Maybe I'm just missing it.

I have tried changing the decoders. I installed the Saf6 pack and get two Cyberlink decoders, a Microsoft one, and LAV. When watching live TV it's very juttery. I've tried to change the MPEG2 decoder to each one and then open Kodi again but they all seem to be the same

edit: Also while in full screen, HD shows still have black bars on the sides of the picture for some reason. The bars are not as big as when a 4:3 picture is being played on a 16:9 screen but there are bars.

Decoders aren't going to affect Kodi. You should get everything setup and working properly in native NextPVR before trying to add additional features/functionality like Kodi or other clients.

Yeah, it's not clear if you're talking about playback in Kodi or NextPVR. The decoder settings only apply to playback in NextPVR. For playback I Kodi, you'd need to look at Kodi settings.

Yeah ... What they all say. My suggestion would be to get everything as you want it in NextPVR. Get the EPG content and its layout, the process to make recordings and the quality of recording playback all setup in NextPVR. We can help with any issues that you find with that.

After NextPVR is all good ... we may be able to help with any issues that you find with Kodi. Thanks.
