Just to eliminate any missed patches I stopped the service and reinstalled 4.1.1 from a fresh exe. I then stopped the service and dropped the new nshared.dll into the folder. When I tried to restart the service it wouldn't start to I rebooted. Same issue, it acted like the service wasn't running so I stopped it again and re-ran the installer figuring it would over write the dll. It then kicked this error. Long story short I had to delete the new dll and re-install the exe to get it working again. Here's the logs, hopefully they will show something.

Did a little testing. I rebooted and replaced the dll again and then rebooted again. The web gui came up and I was able to start NextPVR but when I tried live tv I got a "unable to communicate with recording service" error. Replaced the dll with the original and live tv works again. Here's some more logs that might help.

Sorry, I suspect my build is no longer be compatible with 4.1.1, and you'll need to wait for the next release.

Sub, I upgraded to 4.2.2 (180623) a week or so ago and everything seemed to be working fine until last night. I had a lock up on one of the RPi3 Kodi boxes on one of the TVs about 11pm last night. I did a reset on the box which get everything working. This morning I found a tuner in use on the NPVR box and found it was another orphan which was still running (ch 1010). I tried to restart NPVR with the stop/start menu links. As before, it locked up and was not accessible from the webgiu and and trying to access NPVR directly resulted in a crash of NPVR. As in the past I had to do a full restart of the system to get NPVR back up.

I took a log snapshot after the crash, but before restarting the system () and then again after the restart (). Hopefully there's some clues in there for you to work with. Unfortunately this is not a very common occurrence and its not something I've been able to reproduce at will. The only way I find these orphans is to actually look at the NPVR box menu bar and see the status icon recording.

Sub, had the same scenario last night. The Rpi locked up during live TV around 10ish(ch 1034) and and a reset of the Rpi fixed it. Found another orphan thins morning. I took logs before I tried to restart NPVR, after trying a restart and opening NPVR (which crashed) and after a reboot. Hopefully these are some help.
