Why am I missing recordings? (Wake Up Backend)

If your PC is going to sleep during LiveTV somthing is seriously wrong with your PC Power Savings configuration. I suspect because you are using the LightsOut program it manipulates normal Windows behaviour, try disabling it.

I don't think it's ever gone to sleep while watching LiveTV. It was just a concern that I could see it doing it. I will be watching some Live TV tonight, so I will see if it happens or not. LightsOut is configured to watch for certain files to exist in a specifc location (a file is created then erased via batch files when the server needs to do something, like manage the DrivePool, scandisks, defrag, etc). It's also configured to stay awake so long as there is a certain amount of data being transmitted over it's network (prevents going to sleep while watching a movie or listening to music, etc). Any other time, LightsOut is set to sleep after 15 minutes. Recording TV in the past (the cause for this forum thread) was always hit or miss. The recordings would either not happen at all, or would be corrupted because the computer would sleep while it was doing the recording. Since it's not transmitting any data over the network while recording, or those files it's watching for never existed, it didn't know to stay awake. By figuring out a way to have the recorder create and erase those files, I've had 100% success so far with it staying awake during recording. I've only been recently concerned that it might cut off during Live TV as well, although it's not happened yet.

Truth is, I live by LightsOut. Income is tight, and the server didn't always go to sleep. I would come home from work and find it running for no reason. Running "powercfg /requests" would always show nothing was keeping it awake. "Powercfg /lastwake" would always show something about the network prompting the wake up, but nothing specific like an app triggering it. I would just always see the same results. LightsOut solved these problems, and it's off most of the time now except for when I need it, or it's doing a computer backup. It's just been getting it to cooperate with NPVR, since Window Media Center got cancelled and I've had to go to Kodi, that I've noticed I've had issues.

I'd like to say I'm 99% sure the problem is solved. Not 100%, because who knows?
