As title really.

I have 1244 entries in the db remembering playback positions dating back to 2010

1. Is there ever a limit? i.e. is there a risk of db bloat?
2. Some of these are for shows I definitely don't have any more (the Kids grew up...). When shows are deleted, shouldn't these entries also get purged?

Ta

This is also the table for unique recordings so it doesn't record duplicates so simply deleting from it is bad. There is a config.xml setting to age them out based on number of days. Maybe you have it set very high.

Honestly, I'm not that worried about a couple of thousand rows left in this table. That will account for very little disk space, and wont slow things down at all.

That said, it does delete the entries it knows for sure are no longer required. ie, when you delete a recording, it deletes any PLAYBACK_POSITION row for that file. Any remaining rows you have remaining here are likely just random videos that you've played (not specifically recordings), or were recordings that weren't deleted in the traditional way in the application.

OK ta sub, I will trash a few of the older entries then. I may have deleted various shows from Windows in a clean up exercise over the years which would account for the legacy orphans there.

Actually the aging out setting is after you delete them, I typed that before morning coffee.

Big Grin  Lol.... and here was me trying to figure out which config.xml setting it was.
I'm glad coffee has the same effect.
