Hi there! I've switched over to NPVR in January and have been having issues with missed TV recordings.  The system just doesn't wake up to record my shows.  When I do powercfg /waketimers, all my upcoming recordings are listed.  Still the system doesn't wake up.  I thought maybe there's something else going on since it wasn't a fresh install that I've been working with.  So I backed up my config.xml and npvr.db3 files and wiped the computer.  I installed npvr 5 (previously I was running v4 but that's gone now) and all my settings look good.  I did a test record and put the computer to sleep.  I waited till it was time for the show to record and nothing.  System stayed asleep and the recording failed.  No errors in the event log, no errors in the recording log.  I tried running a scheduled task to see if the wake up timers work for anything else and they worked fine.

Hibernation is off, wake timers are set to on in power settings.  In the bios, it's currently set to S3, but I've also tried S1. For wake timers I tried everything enabled under the bios controlled, but I also tried OS controlled.

I'm fully out of ideas if anyone has any suggestions.

I’m pretty sure NextPVR will be successfully asking windows to be awake, but for whatever reason, windows (or your hardware) isn’t living up into its end of the bargain.

I seem to remember at least in user solving this issue in their bios settings.

Maybe look at the suggestions here https://superuser.com/questions/187263/w...sleep-mode

It may also be because the CPU falls into deep sleep states.
Microsoft has a way of avoiding that see below:

From Microsoft Support (for a different issue, but still helpful):

You can disable the Advance Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) C-states by using a BIOS firmware option on the computer. If the firmware does not include this option, a software workaround is available. You can disable the ACPI C2-state and C3-state by setting a registry key. To do this, follow these steps:

1. At a command prompt, run the following command:
reg add HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Processor /v Capabilities /t REG_DWORD /d 0x0007e066

2. Restart the computer.

Note The computer idle power consumption will increase significantly if the deeper ACPI C-states (processor idle sleep states) are disabled. Windows Server 2008 R2 uses these deeper C-states on the Xeon 5500 series as a key energy-saving feature.

To continue to benefit from these energy-saving states, remove the registry key that you set in step 1 after you install the hotfix that this article describes. To do remove the registry key, follow these steps:

1. At a command prompt, run the following command:
reg delete HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Processor /v Capabilities /f

2. Restart the computer.

Ok after fussing around with it a lot, I finally landed on setting the bios to S1 and OS controlled wake timers in the bios. Even after that didn't work, I read somewhere to change the power plan setting from "Prevent idling to sleep" to "Allow the computer to enter Away Mode". That seems to have done the trick. It must have been something to do with the deeper sleep states you mentioned aderlopas.
