I have NextPVR installed on a Win10 machine, using Kodi as client. Works fine (records per schedule, plays back as expected) except for one issue - we cannot get the closed-captions (AKA subtitles) to play. In Kodi, if I click on the subtitle icon, a window pops up showing that they are enabled but that it doesn't have the file... clicking to find the file reveals an icon of the show I'm watching but selecting it appears to load an "unknown" file. Worse, when I try to restart the playback, Kodi freezes and eventually I can get kicked back to the main screen or out the app altogether.

If I am watching the show live with either the browser client or the native client (can't remember which) I can get the subtitles but if it's playing a recorded show it's iffy.

Any suggestions welcome as my wife really needs the subtitles on many shows.

Try this https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid2903753 The setting is on the Subtitle not Language and they consider it advance or expert so it might not show.

Hi - Thanks Martin. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Per that Kodi thread I have closed captions working. Still a few "peculiarities" but nothing I can't live with. The major one being that the "subtitles" (I think of them as Closed Captions) do not resume after watching a commercial break that does not have subtitles. If I close the playback and then restart it at the (saved) stopping place, subtitles are back. I believe the subtitles also resume if I jump over the commercials.

Also, different recordings require wildly different subtitle offsets, which I can compensate for manually but obviously can't save as default.

Anyway, thanks again for pointing me in the right direction to get subtitles displayed.

Bruce
