Is there a feature to skip say + or - 30 seconds on playback with one key push to help bypassing adverts or other unwanted program breaks?

Yes, short answer to a short question. The longer answer is yet but depends on which of the many NexPVR clients, how you have that client and recordings configured and whether that key is on a remote, keyboard or a multimedia keyboard.

Thank you Martin for taking the trouble to respond. It is a bit complicated in my case. I am using the NextPVR client on the server PC (Windows 11) that automatically installed when I masde the first installation. Sometimes I also watch on a laptop via the web using localhost:8866. When I watch recordings, I am in a separate room with the TV connected by HDMI cable. To control the PC I use the app Unified Remote on my smartphone which has a number of different remote control layouts available including ones tailored for VLC Media Player and Windows Media Centre that I also use.
Any further thoughts, or am I just pushing the envelope too far for something not that essential?

For one key skipping NextPVR.exe and UI clients do support one key short and long skipping with jump times defined in the config.xml file. The FF/RW and Prev and Next keys as shown on this work in progress wiki https://github.com/emveepee/Testing/wiki...dReference Remotes and multimedia keyboards might have them. Additionally F and R will perform FF and RW.
I guess because you posted the question you don't like using thumbnail skipping. When sub modernized NextPVR and added them that took away the left and right arrow key skipping since the same keys can't control both thumbnails and skipping. Not everyone likes thumbnails and so if you disable them following some other forum posts you get the arrow key skipping back. Without thumbnails the arrows default to short skip (but you can change that in config.xml) The web player wasn't really designed as a full PVR with a 10' interfaced, but I noted the UI clients support one key skipping and there is a UI client in the web browser. As for remote playback I think the better option would be to use the two UI clients available here nlite and yauiclient on your laptop for the full NextPVR GUI. There are UI clients for many platforms (Android, Roku, LG and Samsung Tizen) if you don't want to be tethered to a PC. Many users also use Kodi for local and remote playback and it has lots of skip options Martin |
