I think GBPVR is a great idea and I've tried to live with it across a few versions, but it regularly get crashes at the start of recordings and so I can't rely on it and so I don't use it which is a shame. I appreciate its freeware and there's no way that sub can support every hw/sw combination but I thought I'd see if anyone can give me a clue where to look:

It crashes with what an old windows lag would call a GPF with the following info:

szAppName : gbpvrrecordingservice.exe szAppVer : 1.0.1970.26188
szModName : MpgMux.ax szModVer : 5.0.0.727 offset : 00018fcc

The pertinent part of the log looks like :

I guess the line
Quote:09:22:13.609 VERBOSE SetMuxInfo2() did not return S_OK
is of concern.

Does anyone have any clues?

Thanks in advance

Yes, unfortunately DVB support is still a bit hit or miss. Some people seemed to be plagued by problems where others seem fine.

I'm also running Cyberlink MpgMux.ax v5.0.0.727. I've never personally had the crash you mention, but have seen a couple of other users also get it. I can only guess the Cyberlink Mux doesnt like something that comes from your Pinnacle PCTV 300i, which may explain why my different hardware doesnt generate the same problem.

We're all still pretty new to DVB around here, so unfortunately we're probably not going to have the answers for you.

Sub,
thanks for the reply, its appeciated. I just can't help being envious of those who are able to use it with no problems. I'll hang back a bit and see what happens, if there's any useful information I can provide then let me know.

I'm going to switch to using the analog side of the card now to create a streaming server so that I can watch the Ashes series at work.

Good luck

Chris

I have the same problem, but if you enable auto-recovery in the gbpverrecordingservice properties it usually restarts ok and continues recording. (Start / run services.msc)

Sean,
Thanks for the tip, I've changed the service settings as you suggested (that's the problem of learning all your system management on NT4 - these new features come along that I just don't notice). I've also tracked down a down load of ShowShifter 3.01.2557 to see if that mux is better than the CyberLink one as suggested in another thread.
Thanks again

Hi Chris

Could you tell me where you got that Showshifter mux ? - I've been looking for a more reliable one as well.

Sean,
I got it from http://download.freenet.de/download.php?file_id=4948 but in my quick attempt to get it working last night GBPVR couldn't seem to use it and dropped back to the Cyberlink one. If I get a chance tonight I'll have a look with Graphedit but I notice elsewhere in the forum that someone has had success with the latest ShowShifter mux. And having said that I've had a lot more success now that I've put that auto-start on the service, 3 successful recordings out of 3 last night so things are looking promising.
Good luck
