Hello,

Whenever I try to update-EPG by right-clicking the tray icon, the update process crashes.

This happens when the EPG is updated automatically too.

Details:
Up until yesterday, everything worked fine for me. I've completed setting up my system, with just about everything I wanted working perfectly.

Here's the place to say thanks for this wonderful software. I've tried MediaPortal, BeyondTV, SageTV and even Linux MythTV. None worked as well as GB-PVR. Thanks!

Anyhow, when I say all was well, this includes EPG updates.

Yesterday I ran my first test of setting the system to standby after 20 minutes of inactivity, in order to see if it properly wakes up to update EPG and record shows.

I configured 2 shows to record, and EPG update at 6:00AM. My XMLTV Grabbager (TVxb) woke up the machine at 4:00AM to download shows, and the output file time and date were correct - this morning at 4:43AM it finished running.

To verify that EPG update went OK, I viewed the XMLTV output file, and found out the last show for some channel. It was for June-17th, at 23:30.
I went into GB-PVR's guide, and searched that channel to the end. It ended at 23:30 on June-16th!

At this point I tried manually updating EPG, and it crashed (png image attached).

I tried again, and again, and it's the same. I then realized that I had chaged my TVxb.ini file yesterday, and thus went ahead and commented out all the changes (they were related to adding full descriptions and some substitution).
I ran the grabber again, and tried to import the new file, but it crashed again.

The XML (zipped) is attached.

Thanks.

I've just tried you attached file and it import just fine. Might be worth uninstalling, deleting the c:\prograem files\devnz directory, then reinstalling.

Yikes!

Is there any easy way to re-install all the plugins I've installed?
Is there any easy way to retain my channels?

Thanks,

Amit

OK, I reinstalled and it still acts the same, but - I've got some interesting clues!

Bottom-line: Update works, but crashes AFTER the process.

Clue: UpdateEPG from the config utility's capture source dialog, works flawlessly!

Details:
Reinstalled, and did just the basic config. Retried to update from the tray icon and got a crash.
However, at this point I realized that I also did an update during the configuration process in the capture-source dialog, and didn't get a crash.
After some fiddling that didn't help, I removed the channel icons from the ChannelLogos dir, and re-ran. The update crashed, but the channel logos were copied back. So I figured some part of the process actually works. I went ahead and manually made changes to the XMLTV file, to try and see where the process dies. I thought about methodically splitting the file, until I find it. However, your (sub's) comment that the XMLTV file I sent was fine discouraged me.
Anyway, I found out that update doesn't do anything if I only change the show name. I changed a show's name to "AMIT", and didn't see any change. At first, I thought the process crashed before that point or something like that, but no. Is this a bug?
In any case, I then went ahead and added a show manually to the XML file, at the very end of the file. Clicked update on the tray icon, and got the crash dialog. However, the Guide changed and the newly added show was there!
So -
The procees works fine, but if it is started by the tray-icon, we get a crash dialog at the end. If it's started by the config utility, it's fine. What's the difference in the way these things perform the update?
I will now try to set up the auto-update to a few minutes ahead and see what happens.

Did you delete the c:\program files\devnz directory?

Actually, before running Add/Remove, I made a copy of the directory. Then after the remove, I removed C:\Program Files\devnz, just as you said.

But I just edited my previous post - please see it - much more information there now, and some good news / clues.

Ok, just dont update from the tray icon then. Use the config utility instead.

No, its not a bug. This is how it's designed to work. Once a show is imported its never updated. Some people dont like it, but it's easier for me this way.
