BDA Mux filter selection

I am a bit confused (OK at my age thats easy ;-)) In the Config app > Misc tab there is a BDA Mux box that I can choose if I want to use SS , Cyberlink or Intervideo muxes. I think the default is SS. If I dont have the SS Mux installed what does it do? Its still on SS and I dont have the SS Mux installed and I get a picture (and the ocaisional crash :-) ) . What gives?

If it doesnt have the one you selected, then it'll try SS/Cyberlink/Intervideo in order until it finds one. If it doesnt find any then it'll error.
