I checked the box in FFDShow indicated as, "Avisynth", and unchecked "add ffdshow video source" (well -- I tried it with and without that) and nothing different occured.

I see that all four check boxes next to "input colorspaces" are checked, and nothing is in the white box below that. Is there suppose to be something there?

Thanks for the help!!

Instead use AVISYNTH to resize and correct the FPS (to 25FPS - PAL).

All of my audio synch problems are solved. (I still have problems with FFWD & RWD but that's another story)

No matter the resulting combo of codecs and post-processors you use, this is probably good advice for you.

My pvr is set up to rely on it, and use no outside codecs/decoders/post-processors for the most part. It works great using it, and even though it adds proc overhead, it makes things exactly how I want them.

I have tried using it on my personal system, and it is generally a disaster. Since I ask it to do a variety of things, I can't tame ffdshow properly to coorperate w/ everything else that needs some of the same control.

Ask around and you'll find plenty of others that see it as a bane to be avoided, and those that swear by it. You may just want to be one of the former. If you do away w/ it, and still have the proplem, then you know you should be looking elsewhere, anyway.

FWIW, I seemed to be constantly 'tweaking' to try and get DivX files to play over GBPVR on my MVP, with varying success. In the end, I bought a MPEG4 capable Philips DVP642 from WallyMart for $60 as a second DVD player.

Had it around a month and it has (so far) played everything I have thrown at it. Benefits:

1) I have been fitting around 7hrs of DivX video on a single DVD+R.
2) Using Nero, it takes about 10mins to make a data DVD.
3) All that lovely harddrive space back (I had a LOT of archived stuff).
4) I can use my GB-PVR/ MVP as intended, as pure MPEG-2.
5) Sixty measly bucks, and I have spent more time recently actually watching DivXs than messing around with them.

Just my thoughts.

Hate to Hijack this thread but I just bought the same player after countless hours trying to get Divx files to play over the MVP. Any tricks to getting the DVD +R to work. My only attempt wouldn't play, but everything I have burned to a data cd has worked great.

Of course FFDSHOW is great for some people and a nightmare for others. If you have FFDSHOW installed for other reasons then you obviously need to keep it.

But for GBPVR rather than unistall it just untick the two FFDSHOW boxes on the PLAYBACK tab of GBPVR Config (Use FFDSHOW postprocessing.... & Use FFDSOW Transcode....). Then install AVISYNTH and create AVS files with the appropriate filter settings.

I didn't actually uninstall FFDSHOW until after I proved that AVSYNTH worked. So this should work ok.

It's worth a shot, but doesn't always work.
I had to remove it completely, graphedit was still showing FFDshow modules being used in rendering AVIs.

Benz,

I'm new to all this, do you need to create a script for each file you want to play ?

Can you paste a sample AVISYNTH script that has worked for you ?
