hmm interesting, I don't see a dongle.bin loading when I bring up MVP. I wonder if you disabled the remote or whatever dongle.bin is for, would it stall loading another file?

dongle.bin is loaded after the power-cord is plugged into the MVP (not after turning off/on). This is done by GBPVR or MVPMediaSvc. The TV-screen has 4 or 5 white blocks at the bottom, which turn blue. After they all turned blue, dongle.bin is loaded and the MVP starts searching for a server...

I have both hauppauge MVP services off - permanantly they never start- becasue the MVP does not need them to boot, for me anyway so I can understand the process you are doing: - are you keeping one of the Hauppage MVP services on while the MCP device it boots? It should not need anything but the GBPVR MVP service to boot, if at any time they are both running I think it could caouse a problem. I gotta go to work now so wont read for a while

I keep the MVPMediaSvc running, since it allows my MVP to boot (I don't have a DHCP-server on the network and MVPMediaSvc supplies an IP-address to the MVP).
If I load a DHCP-server on my PC, MVPMediaSvc can be disabled, but in that case, it takes > 3 minutes for the MVP to connect to the PC and playing an mpg-file results in a black screen.

Yihee: problem is solved
1) MVPMediaSvc is the bad guy (just like sub told). If this process is running, it gives the MVP an IP-address if no DHCP-server is found (in my case), and it spools all mpg's and mp3's to the MVP. So far so good. Except that skip fw/bk is controlled by the GBPVR software. Therefore I got the message "object not found". Solution is to disable MVPMediaSvc 2) With MVPMediaSvc disabled, make sure you have a DHCP-server on your network. Either by using a router or 3rd party software on the PC (my case). Now GBPVR does push dongle.bin to the MVP after the powerplug is attched to the MVP, but it takes a loooooong time for the GBPVR main screen to appear. 3) I have GBPVR configured to automatically start a service for the MVP. That way, I don't get a message from XP SP2 firewall blocking GBPVR-traffic. Either disable the firewall or one time only manually start the GBPVR MVP Server and allow the network traffic. Now the GBPVR main screen appears quickly. 4) To resolve the black screens: install WinTV2000 version 4.7 (build 23045) http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/s...vr150.html That's it. Now all works fine. Thank you all

I knew it - nothing wrong with GB-PVR, but no one ever believes me...

I know Sub, well what can I say, sorry?
Might be worthwile to mention the XP SP2 firewall / GBPVR thingy in a FAQ |
