per request on the plugin support forum, i enhanced the shutdown plugin.

it is now possible to chose what the shutdown button does in the config-window: 'normal' shutdown, standby or hibernation.

depends... the p iii's (at least the 800 mHz ones) came in three 'flavours' (can't remember exactly the difference, though) . some of them are more "overclocking-friendly" than others.

you will need to use the "try and error"-method. increase the frequency, check if the compy still boots, increaste it more, etc. etc.

136mHz was the best i get. at higher settings, the system became unstable.

but gbpvr works on p iii 936 (pvr only of course *g*). and since i'm using the hardware decoder of the 350, all the cpu has to do is shoving mpeg streams into a file or into the 350s decoder.

the pvr-350:
i had issues with the 350 (who had/has not?) even though i don't have a board with a VIA chipset.
but since i added the 150 i never experienced a system lock up during live tv anymore ('cause the 150 is chosen first by gbpvr for live tv when both tuners are available).
funny (or possibly just 'logically'): for recording the 350 seem to be the first choice.
but even if i force live tv on the 350 (by recording two things at the same time, cancel the recording of the 350 and then starting live-tv) i was not able to force a lock up anymore.

so im happy with my current setup. i once tried to add tview 99 (an old, cheap noname card) using wdmrecorder plugin, but it seems that somehow the 350s hardware decoder is not able to decode what the mpeg software encoder mentioned in the forum-threat delivered.

but at the moment i'm happy with my two tuners Big Grin

Hi,

Is there a way to enhance/expand the shutdown plugin to wait with the shutdown until a recording has finished. Useful for recording late shows and you want to go to bed....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Other enhancements could be to wake the computer when scheduled recordings are about to start and then shut down again after completed recording. This would be very useful when scheduling recordings when you are not at home.

Maybe the hibernation alternative could be used for this????

I dont know the implications of these enhancements but would be interesting to find out.

err... if your mainbord supports ACPI (advanced configuration power management) GBPVR wakes your computer up when a recording is about to start. no plugin needed for this :-)

for automatic shutdown: you can define the amount of time of inactivity until your computer goes down to hibernation.

my tv compy hibernates most of the time, waking up for epg updates and of course for recordings (and of course when i turn it on manually *g*)
