For me, this plugin really fills the gap left by Reven's decision to abandon MyVideos; and it only gets better with each version.

The only request I could have would be to include a scrapers for epguides.com and anidb so I could use this for all my media. Epguides.com would cover all the TV recordings and AniDB could scrape for details on all the Anime in my collection.

If I knew how such thiings worked, I'd contibute it myself but I could at least help testing it...

Keep up the great work; MovieWiz is *the* video cataloger for GBPVR!

Adding extra sites is a fair amount of work, and every time site changes their html, it breaks the scraping (ie. a fair amount of maintenance also).

That said, I will put those two sites on my todo list to add to WizUiHelper.DLL, but cannot promise how soon you might see them show up in feature list. Once I get to that point, I may take you up on your offer to test though.

I have no idea what's involved; if you could point me to a tutorial on the subject I'd be willing to look into what I might be able to help you with. I can tell you that once you do AniDB, you're pretty much done forever...their site is not going to change as too many other Anime collectors have written hooks to it for their own programs. And I imagine a lot of people with HTPCs also are big on Anime, so I thnk it will be a hit.

As far as epguides.com, I wonder if the author of VideoArchiver might have some code to share? His program uses a scraper to get info on the TV recordings. It's nice, but overly complex and never really worked for me. MWiz does exactly what I was looking for when I could no longer run MyVideos. If I have to wait, I'm grateful just to be on the list. If I can find a way to help; testing, research, graphics, hosting...I am more than glad to.

In any event, thanks for writing this program and thanks for being so receptive to user requests.

After reading this post, I thought that it shoudl be added here as a suggestion to be placed on the todo-list. Smile

The wish is for a setting to open the selected movie in a external player of your choice, like VLC. In the post is one reason for it, another is that external players sometimes handles different audio-formats better than GBpvr does...

I agree; especially with AC3 encoding...GOM player was my choice with MyVideos as the keyboard shortcuts matched the Happauge remote keys perfectly. GOM Player can be found here (http://www.gomplayer.com/main.html)

I never understood what the deal with Reven was. He told me that he wasn't willing to release the source code so that it could be maintained by someone else as he 'planned to use it in a future product'.

Well it's been well over a year, and the only 'product' he has is the same XMLTV scraper for NZ channels he had before he left here - updated of course, but no other products. I even asked him what the plans were and what he was doing with the code and never recieved a reply.

MyVideos was the killer app when I wanted to get people into GBPVR - I feel like MovieWiz (and SearchWiz, which I also use at least once a week) will be the new killer apps for me.

I'll put this on the TODO list.

This is probably a bit trivial :o , but I would prefer if 'scrolling' through 'Filters' was done with the up/down arrow keys rather than the left/right keys. IMHO this would make the UI more consistent and natural... moving between 'zones' would be with the left/right keys and moving within a 'zone' would be up/down.

With next version, you will be able to do this with a KeyMapping file and minor modifications to skin.xml. Once I post new version, ping me and I will provide you instructions on how to do this.

I think this is going to develop into an even more awesome plugin. I just hope I can help out in some way.
