OK, I've only tested it on my XP SP3 machine so maybe there is an x64 issue - I'll check.

Oops, I meant an x86 issue (when it comes to build).

I can confirm all assemblies are set for x86 build which should mean they'll work for all windows versions and they're all targeting .NET Framework 4. Remember .NET Framework isn't cumulative so if you have v4.5 installed on the laptop but not v4, it won't work.

Urrrk, yes I remember now. Rebuilding a machine a few years ago and installing .NET v2 then realising I needed v1.1 installed and having to roll it back. Just one more thing to make you love MS.

Sorry but I had to go with v4 to keep things in line with the next version of npvr.

I installed the .net v4.0 Client Profile on the XP SP3 laptop and now when I try to start the service, I get the same exception as I got on the W7 laptop...

There are no logs yet - the servce didn't start...

I did open settings and change my password and that saved fine.

I get the same error as Alex and my .NET 40 is working fine. The config file with the app was wrong, perhaps you have other embedded files to change?
