This early test of the new plug-in does not require you to have an LCD display. An LCD display will be simulated on a separate window onscreen. Because of this, I believe it should run without issue alongside the current version of the LCD plugin, for those who have it installed.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
---------------------
Extract the files into your GB-PVR directory.
Run GBPVR's Config program and click OK.
Run GBPVR and test away.

Please leave feedback about this early test version below.

Specifically, I am after information from those running MyVideos or
the VideoArchive plugin as to whether the LCD screen displays
information about their videos that is stored in the MyVideos or
VideoArchive database, when they play a video.

You should notice an indicator is displayed on key or mouse presses. Also, on (master) volume change, a volume bar should be displayed momentarily.

Opinions please.

One other thing I need is someone with an MVP to run the plug-in and provide the gbpvr.exe.log file, specifically the entries related to the MVP connecting and disconnecting.

Hi Fooman1,

I'm very interested in your plugin since I have a silverstone case for my htpc. Unfortunately I tried about six months ago under a fresh win2000 installation with the then actual version of GBPVR. It didn't work. LCDSmartie was always complaining that Media Centre is not available.
Now I got a fresh installation of winxp and GBPVR 0.98.13 and guess... its not working either.

As I don't like giving up to fast (tried several installations, disabled windows and additional firewall, tried LOCALHOST and the PCs ip adress, tried different ports, ...) I tried ethereal, proxy workbench and ultra network sniffer to see if both, GBPVR and LCDSmartie are talking to each other. The last one (ultra network sniffer) finally worked.

It seems, that the two are only exchanging two messages max on my machine. After that, they seem to wait for each other. I made two screenshots of the sniffer result. In the second one I highlighted the messages that were exchanged, after I started both applications again, in blue.

I would really appreciate, if you could help me with this. Your plugin is one of the last things missing for my own perfect htpc Smile .

Thanks for your help.
Regards

I am running the latest GBPVR, and have installed LCDsmartie, and the plugin to run my iMON VFD.

When I start up GBPVR, i can get the display to media center (and the time), but as soon as I move to another area in GBPVR (ie my movies), I get the media center unavailable message, and thats the end of it.

I haven't changed any of the default configs. Except changing the timeout # because I couldn't get it to connect at all.

Am I missing something obvious?

As well, from what i've read, it is dependant on My Videos plugin, which is not compatible with the latest GBPVR due to dot.net 2.0.

Thanks!

Hey,

There is a version of myVideos which is compatible with .net 2 (my videos 5, RC3)

Reven (plugin author) hosts this on his site ( http://www.reven.co.nz ) along with some other updated version of the other my____ plugins.

Thanks

I am interested in using a silverstone lc20m with imon vfd with gbpvr. The "my videos" plugin for .net 2 seems to be no longer available on Reven's website. Is there some place else to get it to be able to use the lcd plugin? Or is there a work around to get it to work without it? i would really like to use the lcd through gbpvr. Thanks.

Hi,
I have a problem to run this plugin together with MVP's.
If I set number of MVP's to autostart to zero it seems to work. However if I enable the MVP's it crashes at start up. The error message is just a simple "GB-PVR has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". Have tried using different ports but no luck. My guess is that, when the MVP's are started both the recording server as well as GBPVR wants to talk with LCD smartie and then some conflict appears.
Has anyone else got this to work with MVP's

I have now been able to get it to work together with 2 MVP's. The trick is to first start the MVP's and the recording service without the plugin in the plugins directory. Then copy the plugin to the plugins directory before starting GBPVR. Then it is better to remove the plugin again in case the MVP's are restarted....
So it is a somewhat tiresome procedure to get it to work. If anybody has any better way to do it I would appreciate it. Or even better if the plugin could be modified to be able to handle this.Wink

Where is the download as I can't see it at the end of fooma1's first post?
