I've started using the Movies plugin and and very impressed with it. Well done Navyguy! Smile

My video collection is getting large, especially when you include TV episodes. Some kind of filtering or grouping would help a lot. Anything in the works?

Perhaps sorting by certain fields could be considered for a future release, too?

Cheers,
Dan

Thanks!

I'll be doing something regarding directories/grouping for the 1.0.3 version so keep an eye out. But the whole cycle will be a bit delayed as I've gotten behind this week and haven't had much time to work on the plugin. But I'll be back at it this week and getting 1.0.2 released then starting to work on the next version.

First off, great work on the pluggin. I have been looking for something like this. A few questions. Is there any way to not have it paginate as I have ALOT of movies and it takes forever o go thru all the pages.. Second, is there anything in the works for additional skinning items. Specifically the size/layout of the 3 main sections of the main screen. Once again, great work and I look ofrward to the next release. If you need any beta testers, I would like to be one..

Watch for the 1.0.3 version for your first request. As for the skinning options you can control placement and size of all objects drawn onscreen so you can move them wherever you want. If you can't make it do what you're wanting let me know and I'll see what I can come up with.

The newest version is now available on the wiki:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/Movies
As always, do a backup of your database prior to install just in case...

Changes:
  • Database is now created by installation, not by running the management utility. (It won't be overwritten if already exists, just the version info will be updated internally).
  • Added a client/server architecture option for the management utility. When GBPVR is running the plugin now listens for a remote client. Management utility executable can be copied by itself to any computer on your local network and used to remotely update the GBPVR server.
  • Added configuration menu bar into management utility to configure the utility to communicate with the remote server.
Notes:
  • Local mode is how it has always worked in the past and if you're not managing a remote server there is no real reason to use the new function unless you want to.
  • Read the readme file for instructions on how to configure the client for remote management mode.
  • If you do have any issues with the new remote mode, please try the same thing from the local machine in local mode on that computer and see if the results are the same, this will help me with troubleshooting.
  • Make sure you setup any firewalls you may have to allow communication if you will be using remote mode.
Hopefully it's all good to go but let me know if something isn't working right.
I know this version was kind of light on feature updates, however this was a pretty big change internally so I want to release this separately prior to any changes I'll be doing for larger file collections in the next release.

Excellent stuff! The remote feature is very much appreciated an allows me to easily update download/ripped movies without disturbing tv watching on the server pc. nice one, thanks.

Glad to hear it's working for you. I know of a couple ways that theoretically the remote listener might get hung but I haven't been able to make it happen. But just in case, if it seems to not be responding restart your gbpvr recording service and it'll reset it. I'll try to add in some safety nets for that kind of thing in the 1.0.4 cycle.

But for now off to working on grouping...

What ports does the Lookup use for IMDB?
I tried the batch lookup to add movies, but it doesn't find anything.
Even the individual lookup fails on IMDB but Amazon works.
I think maybe my firewall is blocking the request.

What I liked about My Videos is that it diplayed just a list, then showed the details once you clicked on it. Anyway to make this work like that?

Thanks for the contribution.

It uses port 80 it's just an http request same as for amazon.com. I just looked and it seems IMDb.com has changed the layout of their pages so I'll need to update for that. Most likely will take a couple of days though as it's pretty busy at work right now. But I'll get this as soon as I can.

When I use the Movies Plugin Mangement.exe, I run into two problmes 1st. When I hit search and all of the files are listed, they contain all of the underscores and numbers that generally are attached to the files. When I hit Add Selected movies with IMDB lookup, none are found. I have to go to the movies page and type in the movie name without all of the verbage...then I get all of the data. Is this necessary? Am I dong soemthing wrong and creating myself more work.

Secondly, I had about sixty files in the Directory that I searched. For some reason, only 47 of them are listed on the page after search is hit. I have tried numerous times to get the last dozen or so files listed so that I can put them into the movies database. Is there a numerical limit? I don't think so becasue deleting a file, dies not add a new one. The files are listed alphabetically, and those files following the letter S are ignored. i.e. T though Z. How can I get these last dozen files into the system?
Thanks
