This will depend how NMT is getting its data, HTTP will be native over IP, however i would think a share might be different, i dont know how the NMT works, i was told its the same as the MVP which is purley reliant on the PVR server (server gets data, squirts it to MVP) however the NMT is way more intelligent.

If it tries to connect to drive "S" does it even know how to get there? does it have WIndows networking protocols?

I would hope its MVP system only but then your error seems maybe its not???

Many Thanks
Ashley

trummel Wrote:I'm not sure wether I should post this here or in the mvp/nmt threads, so please bare with me.

I have a security system that places jpg's in a folder that is available as a public share on my network. I map the drive to s: and use a local entry of s:\Gate.jpg to view the image using webcams2. This works fine on pvrx2 on my server, but won't display on my NMT's (it says "unable to connect") . I can access other webcams that use http://... on my NMT without a problem, although they dont refresh unless I return to the menu and then go back in to webcams.

Can anyone suggest where I might look for the problem/solution. I hesitate to post this to the GBPVR/NMT threads because I know Martin is snowed under.

Thanks in advance for any help

Martyn.
Many Thanks
Ashley

It is more intelligent with regards to video and audio codecs but it's still pretty dumb Wink

It's the share that's the important factor here. My guess is that the PC "service" that serves the NMT does not have rights to access the network drive.

Try searching the forums for "NMT / MVP network share". I'm 99% sure it's not a WebCams plugin issue Smile

Actually. it being a problem with share permissions makes sense, because if I copy the jpg files to a drive that is local to the pvrx2 server, the NMT can display the image quite happily. I have granted full permisions to everyone on the share folder structure and it makes no difference. I think as you say McBainUK, the pvrx2 service is probably key here. I will go ask in that thread and cross post back here if I get a solution.

Thanks for your input guys.

Martyn.

What version of Windows are you on???

Check the security of the drive as well, Windows XP x64 created problems with this, i also noticed if you copy a folder from one machine to another it created "odd" security permissions (inventing accounts then said "inherited from parent container" when the parent never had that permission in its container, ive not nailed it down yet why it does this, thats deff a Windows bug somehow), but then i dont like how Windows is going so stopped researching stuff like this a few years ago.

Can't try it myself as I don't have an NMT but I reckon this maybe what you're looking for: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...work+share

Any idea why none of my webcam images are updating at the MVP, and yet update fine at the local pc (pvrx2) ? If I back out of the Webcam plugin, and restart it, the images are updated (but then they stay at that single image again).

I saw this was posted earlier in the thread.. someone with the same issue.. but a follow up poster said his MVP updates fine. Nothing was mentioned since.

AFAIK, Im running the latest GB-PVR with the standard dongle. Im now using the recent Comm-Skin (4?), but I had the same webcam issue with the previous install using blue/slick skins.

Could it be some sort of port issue ? My MVP is on the 2nd nic of this pc, dedicated to the MVP via crossover cable. No firewall etc.

Thx for help .. tryin to get the WAF up a notch.

Same problem here (slik skin), this used to be fine on the MVP with an older version of GBPVR...
Many Thanks

Wasn't an <useincrementalupdates> setting added recently which affects MVP use?

How do we tell which version of WC2 is being used on the system to update it?
Many Thanks
