Yes, there are a few other threads that observe this phenomenon. Judicious tweaking of your network, forcing high priority to MVP AND GBPVR processes (search for config.xml modification with these keywords), turning off unnecessary progs on your PC, can all help, but may not solve this issue completely. CPU power "might" help", but (see my sig. works fine even with a low CPU power rig when configured with a few of the above suggestions).

I'd like 25_24023b.bin as well please! If you could also give me a reminder of where to insert it, and which gbpvr drop-down to select as well, I'd appreciate it.

k.

The handle has come from my experience of ANYTHING technology based since I moved into my new house! 2 computers failed, (1 hard disk actually started smokin) & sent back to the manufacturors. Walls have wire mesh in them so couldn't get my cable broadband upstairs till I discovered Homeplug and ANY MANY more :-)

Anyway back to the matter in hand, Dongle 25_24023.bin works and the MVP now loads GBPVR fine. I have 1 or 2 questions/probelms with it now though:

1) Still resets when trying to play some AVI files that it turns out are corrupted but why does this cause the MVP to fit & re-set?
2) menus seem to update slowly when scrolling with the remote. Is this just down to local network speed (I am using 85mbps Homeplugs so their should be enough bandwidth in their somewhere).

Cheers for the good work Mr Smurf!

JKsmurf thanks for the dongles....

Ok I have done lots of testing and I can't say that any combination of dongle's is totally stable. Best so far with UK (Scart) H3 MVP is Dongle 32_24110b. GB-PVR 97.13 with Native Utilities patch http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=17820 running on Win2003

Main issues are:
- WMA files always crash MVP (This is a Trans2MP3 issue that Sub advises won't be an issue with next version).
- AVI often crash/don't play
- Horrible green tinge on some TVs (I have tried the MVP FAQs with no joy).

NB If I use GB-PVR as the client (on a separate desktop) I have none of the above issues.

Unfortunately the "TV People" are still not that impressed with the MVP set-up.....

JonRoyle,

I see you have SCART. Another user had a colour issue with SCART
Have you seen this, it might be worth a crack?

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FAQ/MVP#toc21

JonRoyle/techjinx
wrt other MVP issues, I also have reboots with some AVI's but I put it down to CPU power and transcoding. Some AVI's are better than others, I had thought (in an Orwellian fashion) that all AVI's were created equal.... my MVP MPEG2 playback is rock stable except for the occasional FF to end though.

techjinx. Slow menus? Yes, me too (a bit), if you look at past posts though, you'll generally see sub describe the number of processes it has to go through to throw up menu's on the MVP.

Good work, LOL, all I did was supply dongles. The real "good work" accolades belong to sub...

jksmurf,

Thanks - I had read the MVP colour links but thought it a bit drastic to start removing resistors from the PCB. I am now playing the MVP through a different TV (not Toshiba) so Ok.

You may well be write about the AVIs (not all being equal) it is definitely not a CPU power issue (from the monitoring) interestingly some that don't play at first play on the 3rd or 4th attempt. I am going to try andkeep most of my vids in Mpeg format so I have none of those issues (just a lack of disk space).

Have you tried to raise the mvptranscode preplay delay, you never know.
