The newest version is now available on the wiki:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/Movies
As always, do a backup of your database prior to install just in case...

Changes:
  • Updated IMDb.com lookup due to changes made to their website layout.
Notes:
  • The only thing updated is just the management utility so if you are upgrading you really only need to copy out that specific file from the .zipfile and update your computer and any clients.
The categorization feature is still upcoming, I've got it about half done right now but real life has been keeping me quite busy as of late.

jackk Wrote:When I use the Movies Plugin Mangement.exe, I run into two problmes 1st. When I hit search and all of the files are listed, they contain all of the underscores and numbers that generally are attached to the files. When I hit Add Selected movies with IMDB lookup, none are found. I have to go to the movies page and type in the movie name without all of the verbage...then I get all of the data. Is this necessary? Am I dong soemthing wrong and creating myself more work.

Filenames are what it uses to guess at the movie title, as such they need to be fairly specific. It can account for several types of extra stuff at the end (i.e. Part 1 and the like) but any other characters in the filename will most likely mess up the lookup and this is unlikely to change. Best bet is to make sure your filenames are cleaned up from the extra stuff.

jackk Wrote:Secondly, I had about sixty files in the Directory that I searched. For some reason, only 47 of them are listed on the page after search is hit. I have tried numerous times to get the last dozen or so files listed so that I can put them into the movies database. Is there a numerical limit? I don't think so becasue deleting a file, dies not add a new one. The files are listed alphabetically, and those files following the letter S are ignored. i.e. T though Z. How can I get these last dozen files into the system?
Thanks

I would guess offhand that it is most likely related to your filenames. It searches the specified directory for all files with the file extensions specified. But if you specify for example .avi and the filename is actually . avi or ._avi or something like that it won't find it. You are correct that there is no numerical limitation in the return list and if it's finding some of the files you're looking for that means it is working. So most likely it is a name problem with the specific files. If you still have problems after checking the names post up the exact filename of some of the files you are using (include the full path too just for kicks) and I'll try to replicate the problem and see what is going on.

That's a good question Wink The last 2 weekends have been shot for me having any coding time. Next weekend most likely will be too. But depending on work this week I might have some time to work on it. I do hope to have everything in place for some testing by the end of next weekend but don't hold me to that it might slip to the following weekend.

I don't know why, but my movie files are saved in folders. When I hit Search in this Plugin, all of the folders that begin with the letters from A throug S are loaded into the plugin. Those folders that begin with the letter T through Z are ignored. Although these movies/folders are now arranged in alphabetical order, they were not recorded that way; the folders that are being ignored were interpersed with those being loaded. As far as I can tell, there is no difference in the the way the files are named. Only in the first letter. they are all mpg files.

As an experiment, I went to the drive where these movies are being stored and I put a small letter "a" in front of the names of two of the folders being ignored. When I hit search, they were loaded into the plugin along with the other folders starting with the letter A. Since this does not change the movies name, I guess that I could do this to all of the ignored folders and load them in that manner. However with this additonal letter, the movies will no longer be in the alphabetical order that is convienient, and there is probably little chance that the IMBD data will be found. It seems that there should be a better solution.

Then I changed the name of one of the folders that was being loaded by putting a "t" at the beginning of the folders name. This change casued it to not load or be displayed in the plugin list.

I am including a screen shot of the Movie Plugin . The file that is highlighted at the bottom would not load untill I added the small letter s to the beginning of its name Th only change made to get included in the list is to move it up alphabetically from "T' to "s"

The question is doesthe search not find it or doesit not display it becasue of the first letter of its name. Help please

I'll look into this over the weekend and see if I can figure out what is going on. Definitely seems odd. I'll keep you posted.

In case you need this, I am using the most recent dowload of GBPVR. I downloaded this plugin about a week ago, and have updated it to the msot recent. I had this problem on both versions. I have a standard vanila Compaq with a 2g pentium 4.

Thanks

When using the Movie Plugin Management (Local).exe I have found many movies.. It works pretty good for movies, it seems to be lacking in its functionality for looking up TV Series. Alias is a really good example.

I've tried every single way I can think of for manually inputting a Movie Title
"Alias" Truth Be Told
Alias Truth Be Told
Alias - 101 - Truth Be Told
Alias 101 Truth Be Told
Alias 1
etc

please take a look at this link to see for yourself.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0508672/

My entire file library is listed as such

Alias - 101 - Truth Be Told.avi
Name | Season & Episode Number | Episode Name | File Extension

Please keep up the good work, you've got something here to be proud of.

Thanks!

I was wondering if you wouldn't mind making this to work with a 16:9 skin as well. Love the plug in cept for two small issues. I'm running a res of 1920 x 1080 and some of the words get cut off or bunched together. Also when trying to get or change movie info I get a nice error. Was trying to add The Wild and IMDB added it as The Wild Bunch a 1960 some movie also have the problem with breather bear 2.

Just a quick note to say that I am a very big fan of the Movies plug-in, and that it has been working quite well for me. I look forward to any future releases. Specifically, I am eagerly awaiting the ability to search/categorize by different fields, ie genre, year. The other option is to have an on-screen keyboard where by you can enter the first 1 or 2 letters of a movie title, and the program will bring up the appropriate titles.

Once again, thank you for all your work.
