Very odd, but I restarted the NextCom SageTV app and now I'm getting further with a different error:

Happy New year to you too. Have you tried to delay after the start? If I remember for windows you needed a delay and I suspect you might need 5 or 10 seconds to tune the satellite before there is enough buffered.

That was where we had the sleep set to 5 right before the ffmpeg  line?  It is set to 5.  I just tried 10 and still the same error.

This is with the ffmpeg line still set as:
ffmpeg -re -i "$nextname" -f mpegts -codec copy -y /dev/null

Is that what I should test with?

I just tried the other option you had provided:
ffmpeg -re -i "$nextname" -f mpegts -codec copy -v panic -

Just get random characters all over the screen

ffmpeg is doing what it should do stream data to stdout you would need to pipe that to a reader (ie NextPVR which is what we hope will work one day) for another instance of ffmpeg or ffplay

I am concerned with the remux time though

[mpegts @ 0x55e1ac2f9900] PES packet size mismatch:00:01.29 bitrate= 0.0kbits/s speed=0.643x

I can't imagine why this is under 1x

Could you upload your current batch file and I will try and simulate some tests tomorrow.

Ok went back to original ffmpeg line and with sleep 10 I get a different errors now but the LSize value continued to grow until it finally stopped .  But it didnt work until I restarted the NextCom app again.  Something is wacky.  When I do the STOP command it seems like something is going on with the NextCom app and it looks like its' recording but the file stays at 0 length.  I restart and its good.  With sleep at 10I get this now at the end of the output:

By batch file to upload, you mean the opendct.sh script?

Won't let me add it as attachment.  Here is the opendct.sh:

nextname=/mnt/R5000_Recordings/$2.ts
openname=/mnt/R5000_Recordings/$2.ts

#example translations
#extname=/mnt/R5000_Recordings//$2.ts
#nextname=/media/recordings/$2.ts
#openname=\\172.16.3.105\Recordings\$2.ts
#openname=K:\$2.ts

opendct=/var/opt/nextpvr/scripts/opendct.py

python3 $opendct STOP "$2"
python3 $opendct START "$2" $1 "$openname"
sleep 10
python3 $opendct GET_SIZE "$2"
#ffmpeg -re -i "$nextname" -f mpegts -codec copy -v panic -
ffmpeg -re -i "$nextname" -f mpegts -codec copy -y /dev/null
python3 $opendct STOP "$2"

Ok good in my last post I said I expected to see 1x reading, so it seems related to latency maybe using your network share requires even more then 10s.

You seems to indicated is STOP is not working. Does your r5000 app show any error on the command?

When I run "python3 opendct.py STOP R5ooo-HD"  the NextCom app shows the R5000 stopped recording.  But when I issue another command to start a new record, it seems half the time the app shows the Program Length increasing in time but the file size stays zero.  Intermittently does that and works as expected sometime.  When it doesn't work, only closing and restarted the NextCom app seems to clear it.

I will try again with sleep with a higher value.  Thank you.
