I'm getting to step away for a bit for dinner. So close now to it working.... closer, ever closer. :-) Thank you again Martin.

No problem my dog wants his walk. Nothing on that log so maybe try a recording to see if anything gets output to it. There might be a clue.

Martin, here's the latest.  I set up 3 shows to record last night.  All 3 recorded fine and I can play them back no problem.  This morning I tried to tune to different channels several times but each time I get the same failed playback messages as before.  I see in the NestCom app the R5000 recorded for 5 seconds then failed.  But then I started another recording and while the recording is going if I select watch, the show is playing back fine.  I'm attaching latest logs in the hopes you can see what is going on.  Thank you.

I think the sleep in your script may not be working. Try adding some debug info around the sleep so we can match times to the logs

Code:
date -Is > /var/opt/nextpvr/live.txt
sleep 7
date -Is >> /var/opt/nextpvr/live.txt

I may have mentioned that I consider the browser transcoding test the worst possible way of testing because you are testing transcoding too, I am happy to hear recordings are working.

an alternative way of testing would be

ffplay -i http://localhost:8866/live?channel=132
or
ffmpeg -i http://localhost:8866/live?channel=132 -codec copy - f mpegts -y /dev/null

Note: you may be adding some junk to your recordings if you have -v panic removed.

Yeah I know what you mean about the transcoding,  but the issue seems to be the recordings keep stopping.  When they keep going, playback is good.  Although a few test recordings worked last night, right now it is hit or miss.  Most of the time it is still recording for 5 to 10 seconds and then stopping.  Same thing with either a recording or playback, I see in the NextCom app recording starts but stops after just a few seconds.  I even swiytched to my second R5000 (port 6970) just to eliminate a flaky R5000 device but no change.  Plus both units work flawless with SageTV

I did add the commands you recommended before and after the sleep.  Latest logs are attached.

BTW, I tried the command line tests:

ffplay -i http://localhost:8866/live?channel=132 -This works (when the recording stays going), but often I see the same few seconds or recording and then stops.

The ffmpeg one does not seem to be woking.

What does

cat /var/opt/nextpvr/live.txt

show?

Do you have this working with SageTV with Sage running on a linux server?

Ok if there is any logging in sage with live tv playback it would be good to see the logs assuming you are using the same share for passing the file.

Also here is a file with the Sage.properties settings as the pertain to the R5000.  Thought it may be helpful.
