To be honest, not really (sorry...harsh but true). There wont be anything I can do about this problem. You'll just have to try find a combination of drivers that works for you.

I'm already doing all the normal directshow initialization stuff, as seen by it working for the vast majority of users. It is possible Hauppauge are doing some extra non-standard stuff to initialize the device in WinTV, but I'd have no way of knowing what this is.

To close this one I finally got it working.

Installed windows MCE, configured the media center app, and recordings of both tuners were with correct sound.
From now on gbpvr is also recording with correct sound.
After bootup it looks like MCE does something with the PVR card so I don't have to manually fix the problem.

It appears to be in the recording, not playback. It happens on the mvp, and cyberlink DVD player playing the mpeg. It fades in and out thorughout the 30 min show. I have a 150 that I haven't changed drivers on it 6 or more months.

Is any body else getting this? It seems to have just started for me over the weekend. It is not consistant. It fades in and out. I do not have it playing back old recordings, and new ones do regardless of how they are being played. I even hear it when they are played via orb, and MVP. I have not changed my hauppauge drivers.

Strange, Pioneer, that yours has just started doing it with no driver changes. Mine is still doing it periodically so can't rely on it for any vital recording. I use 23258 dvr. Can you hear any of the normal sound? I can hear faint speech below the machine gun sound. Certainly would like to get this fixed.

I also have this problem. It is in the recordings with Gbpvr. When I use the Hauppauge Sheduler everything is fine.
This is my workaround: start WinTV2000 and check the sound. Then close WinTV2000 and start Gbpvr.

I experience this problem when I update the Hauppauge driver to version2.0.35.23258.

Pieter

Pieter, it is interesting that you are using 23258 as well. I am going to try another driver version. But I have just recorded 11 test progs over the last couple of days and they were all OK!

Cheers.

I've emailed my Hauppauge contacts to ask them if this is something they've come across, or if they have any ideas what might be causing it. In the email I included the URL to sample file offered on the previous page.

Hopefully they'll be able to provide some insight.

I use my PVR500 and PVR150 every day, and I've never seen it.

That sounds like a different problem. This specific problem they were talking about was a quite loud machine gun like sound over the recording.

Loss of audio on some channels was common on NTSC C199 revision PVR150s. This was address in only the latest Hauppauge drivers.
