New Skin: Contour

looks really good.....but, it's almost like the screen is a bit wasted having that big box there no task image.

i suppose every other one we've got used it something moving in there.

It may or may not be something Torque would like to use, but he could look into adding the Inset special element in the 'main menu\skin.xml', so that this box can also be used for music visualizations if the user is using on their PC monitor and music is playing (not MVP/XCard/PVR350).

Want to try it but when set as the skin GBPVR fails to load. (unziped to C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\skin\Contour)

Any ideas?

This happened to me after I tried changing the backgrounds. Ran config back to blue skin, then GBPVR started up, but with the Contour skin. Seemed to work fine after that.

I really like this skin. Can't wait to get home and try it on the MVP.

Are you using GB-PVR version 95.11 or later? Could be i put something in that requires a plugin you don't have... only thing I can think might cause it would be the VA Panel.

Try commenting out the VA panel line in the main menu skin. Open /skin/contour/main menu/skin.xml with Notepad. Find the line (near the bottom):
<SpecialElement name="Panel" panelName="VAPanel" visible="true" transparency="1" loc="232,245" size="320,160" />

And make it look like:
<!-- SpecialElement name="Panel" panelName="VAPanel" visible="true" transparency="1" loc="232,245" size="320,160" / -->

I'll play around with the button colors and try adding Sub's visualization suggestion.

BTW, for some reason, I can't open .zip files that people attach in this forum (nor could I upload my skin successfully)... anyone else having this issue? I get corrupt archive msg.

No I'm using 93.10. Tried commenting the VAPanel line but still doesnt load. Oh well - will have to wait till sub puts up the new version again.

I really like this skin. Can't wait to get home and try it on the MVP.

Looks great on MVP too! I think this is my new skin, and it works well with plugin skins pulled in from FBHV (My Music, My Pictures), but look forward to those being Contoured.

Only small thing I noticed is that items in Recordings list overlap frame...no biggie.

It's an Internet Explorer issue. If you use another browser the Zips download fine.

Everyone, I just uploaded the newest version of my skin at:

Fixed the recordings running out the bottom. I also did a quick and dirty job of skinning the My Videos and My Pictures plugins. I hadn't been using them, but I must say the My Pictures plugin is pretty sweet!

I hope to finish my higher-contrast-normal-buttons version of the skin possibly tomorrow.

@McBainUK - I looked at your log, the issue is that you're not using a .95.xx version of GBPVR, which supports the BaseSkin.xml file (common definitions of text types, buttons, etc.) since it crapped out when looking for ScreenName text type for the main menu.

@KingArgyle - thanks, I used an old rev of Netscape and that worked.

@Groover - Firefox... Never!

@Sub - I put that line in the main menu skin and didn't see that it did anything while music is played. It's supposed to go down with all the other special elements like the clock, vapanel, nextrecording elements, right?
