Are you able to open the bda.grf file and check the media type for the 'audio' pin?

Here it is:

The DVR In - 2
Major Type: Audio

Sub Type: MPEG1AudioPayload
Format: WaveFormatEx: 48.000KHz 0 bit
stereo

Looks like this could be the problem.

daza67 Wrote:This is interesting, if I turn live preview mode off and start viewing on a mpeg audio tv channel then change to an ac3 tv channel it works.

I agree it's something to do with the mpeg-2 demultiplexer configuration or the ac3 audio connection to the stream buffer sink.

Daza

When I check the pin properties in this scenario it reports:

DVR In - 2
Major Type: Audio

Sub Type: DOLBY_AC3
Format: WaveFormatEx: 48.000 KHz 0 bit
stereo

Yes, it looks like it was wrong according to the media type.

The code in this area has changed quite a bit in the new release. It looks like this would not be possible with the new code, so I can only guess it was a bug in the last release. Try the new version due in a couple of days and let me know if you fair any better.

Hi sub,

Thanks for the reply. Here is some more information:

Live TV mode
BDAQuickPidSwitch=false
Opened GB-PVR, switched to My TV mode and first channel was HDTV with AC3 audio. Audio worked fine. Switched to the other HDTV channels and audio still fine. This is all under live TV and not timeshift.

Opened lastgraph.grf, right-clicked on MPEG-2 Demux audio pin, and clicked pin properties. Dialog came up saying the requested property page could not be displayed. I am running GraphEdit 9.04.78.0000 build 041201.

Opened GBPVR.exe-native.log:
11:36:11.794 INFO BDARecorder:::StartRecording(DNTV Live! Tiny USB2 BDA, 2, , T:C28,536625,0,0,7~P:784~V:102~A:103~L:eng~PMT:1024~LCN:30~N:>SBS HD)

This information is all correct and the AC3 channels are correctly identified. Audio is working.

BDAQuickPidSwitch=true
Now I have changed this setting to true and will try the same test.
No audio is working on the HDTV channels although AC3 is correctly identified.

Opened lastgraph.grf, right-clicked on MPEG-2 Demux audio pin, and clicked pin properties. Dialog came up saying the requested property page could not be displayed, like before.

Now on to timeshift mode...
Timeshift mode
BDAQuickPidSwitch=true
Started on 9 HD in live TV mode with no audio. Changed to timeshift mode by pressing the pause button. Still no audio. Changed to 10 HD and I get audio. Changed back to 9 HD and I have audio. Changed to ABC HD and I have audio. It was only the first switch that did not have audio.

11:58:18.076 INFO BDARecorder:::StartRecording(DNTV Live! Tiny USB2 BDA, 2, , T:C9,191625,0,0,7~P:1073~V:512~A:650~L:eng(AC3)~PMT:257~LCN:90~TXT:576~N:>Nine Digital HD)

When timeshift mode was enabled, the rest of the entries were basically like this:
11:59:24.700 INFO DirectShowPlayerBase::playFile() done
11:59:40.372 INFO DirectShowPlayerBase::playVideoFile(D:\Videos\Recorded TV\Whoo Hoo! Wiggly Gremlins!-HD_8_20060216_11101200.dvr-ms)
I changed to GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log and found entries like this:
11:58:27.436 INFO BDARecorder:::StartRecording(DNTV Live! Tiny USB2 BDA, 2, D:\Videos\Recorded TV\Fresh Cooking with the Australian Womens Weekly-H_8_20060216_11301200.mpg, T:C9,191625,0,0,7~P:1073~V:512~A:650~L:eng(AC3)~PMT:257~LCN:90~TXT:576~N:>Nine Digital HD)
11:59:08.247 INFO SetTuningRequest(T:C10,219500,0,0,7~P:1592~V:514~A:672~L:eng(AC3)~PMT:263~LCN:12~TXT:576~N:>TEN HD)
11:59:08.919 VERBOSE Target DVR-MS filename: D:\Videos\Recorded TV\Home Life Style-HD_8_20060216_11301200.dvr-ms

Again AC3 is correctly identified for all but it is not playing on the first channel to use it. I decided to start up in timeshift mode so I changed the config to do so. However, the same behaviour was exhibited. No audio on startup on a HDTV channel but there was audio if I switched to another channel (does not matter which).

Now changing BDAQuickPidSwitch to false...
BDAQuickPidSwitch=false
Loaded up in timeshift mode. Audio did not work on the HDTV channel I started on until I changed the channel, the same behaviour as before. I decided to start on a normal channel and switch to HD to see if it would work. I changed to a normal channel and quit to the main menu. I then started TV mode and it loaded on the normal channel which had sound. I then switched to a HDTV channel and that had sound also. It seems that in timeshift mode if a HDTV channel is the first one then it will have no sound until a channel change is performed. The entries are basically the same as with BDAQuickPidSwitch set to true.

Now I decided to load up in live TV mode. I started on a HDTV channel and audio worked. I pressed pause to enter timeshift mode and audio disappeared until I changed the channel, the same behaviour as before. Then I changed to a normal TV channel and exited to main menu so that I would start on it. I got back into TV mode on that normal channel and sound was of course fine. I pressed pause to enter timeshift mode and sound was still fine. I then changed to a HDTV channel and audio remained fine, the same behaviour as before.

I then started recording the HDTV channel I was watching. Audio worked. I then quit to main menu, went to the TV guide and scheduled recording a HDTV channel. No audio worked on playback. This is using the Microsoft DVR-MS mux.

Same issues as before with the graph files and not being able to open pin properties. Any tips?

Hopefully this helps. If you need the logs I can provide.

This is because you need to run "regsvr32 proppage.dll". This DLL should have been installed or downloaded with your copy of graphedit.

Good to hear that it might simply be a bug. Also, thanks for the tip - the property pages now work and details of media type for the audio out pin from the MPEG-2 Demultiplexer follow. Used lastgraph.grf to get this info.

Live TV mode
BDAQuickPidSwitch=false This is the mode where audio works first time.
HDTV (AC3) channel:
Sub Type: MPEG1AudioPayload
Format: WaveFormatEX: 48.000 KHz 0 bit stereo
Normal channel: Same as HDTV channel.

BDAQuickPidSwitch=true This is the mode where audio does not work on HDTV.
HDTV (AC3) channel: Same as above.
Normal channel: Same as above.

Timeshift mode
BDAQuickPidSwitch=true
HDTV (AC3) channel:
- On first start on HDTV channel: same as above and no audio.
- If change to another channel before HDTV channel (so get audio):
Sub Type: DOLBY_AC3
Format: WaveFormatEx: 48.000 KHz 0 bit stereo
Normal channel: As above (MPEG1...)

BDAQuickPidSwitch=false
HDTV (AC3) channel:
- On first start on HDTV channel: same as above and no audio.
- If change to another channel before HDTV channel (so get audio):
Sub Type: DOLBY_AC3
Format: WaveFormatEx: 48.000 KHz 0 bit stereo
Normal channel: As above (MPEG1...)

If you need anything else let me know.

Sub,

Just tried the latest 9608 release and still have the same problem. Here is the recording service.exe log, audio pid is picked up correctly as ac3.

The audio pin in the bda.grf is still getting incorrectly configured as mpeg1 audio instead of ac3.
