Dirtboy, didn't you experiment with the registry-entrys proposed by amontillado? I don't think they are specific to WinTV2000. GB-PVR might override them though, but I wouldn't expect that.

SHSPVR tips and tweaks gives the following:

MPEG Audio Record Volume Level Tip
Open Registry Editor,
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hauppauge\hcwTVDlg\AudioControls
look for Scart1_Volume it the record volume level key.
Use the range 100-127 Decimal, Try small steps.
Thank Barnabas

I don't have the time at the moment to compare this in detail with amontillados infos, but in general recording volume is set via the registry. You'll find it.

No, I did. I have it at 127 already. Didn't make a difference.

Hm, sorry then.

Maybe you want to try with WinTVCap whether setting recording-volume works at all for you - in order to isolate the problem. You can define recording profiles including Scart1_Volume for use on a per-recording base there.

And, does the Scart1_Volume setting make a difference in your WinTV2000 recordings?

On a different note: I don't think any of the Mixer-setting have any influence on rec-volume, particularly not the 'video' one, which I haven't found to work for any TV-card yet at all. For playback only the wave-channel works.

Scart1_volume doesn't work with the newer drivers.

Amontillado's site

Also note that a reboot is necessary after changing the registry value.

Yes, I changed all the registry settings listed on that page. None of them change the volume at all. The machine reboots every day, its my personal machine. Still no effect. I will try using the Hauppauge app and see if it is any different.

It sounds you're using the 'older-driver' Software/Hauppauge branch in the registry. Maybe also you want to use the latest drivers and then - if still necessary - adjust using the CurrentControlSet/Services/Globespan branch (following Amontillados tips how to go ahead). You can get the latest drivers from SHS-download

Maybe it helps :-)

Downloaded the newest drivers and re-edited the registry settings, but it still didn't help. Think it might have something to do with the card? I'm not using a boxed version of the pvr-250, but an Media Center PC pull OEM edition. At any rate, I've starting using a collection of softwares to do this:

1. MPEG-VCR to split into mpv and mpa files
2. Goldwave to maximize the audio and save as wav
3. BeSweet to convert wav to mp2
4. MPEG-VCR to combine back into mpeg

See any problems with that?

To answer my own question, yes there is a problem with that, although Ihave no idea what it is. Combining the videa and the audio I am left with a file that is unplayable in any media player. It locks up every one I try it on. Funny thing is that MPEG-VCR can open it and edit it fine.
