so I can run many commands but when I run
D1XMLTVGrabber -grab

I get
>>>>>>>
Welcome to the D1 Australia XMLTV Grabber, version 1.0.2295.26570
by Sam (rexone64-xmltv@yahoo.com.au)

This grabber was produced independently of DevelopmentOne (D1) and has no
connection with D1 other than the fact that it uses D1's programming data.
The data used belongs to DevelopmentOne (http://www.d1.com.au), a company that sells home media centres using software from the MythTV project.

D1XMLTVGrabber is in BuildXMLTV Data file mode, using settings in D1XMLTVGrabber.exe.config
>>>>>>>

Then I get this:

>>>>>>>
Unhandled Exception: System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array.
at D1XMLTVGrabber.Module1.Main()

Does that mean anything obvious?

thx treb

Head over to http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au forums - they have some great discussions about Australian EPG grabbers including the current war with NineMSN which has broken most of them. Many of them use NineMSN data and NineMSN are tryign very hard to block EPG grabbers from getting guide data from their site.

I could never get EPGRunner going as it seems to only work with MCE. I was using a great EPG Grabber called DUGG for a while that has now broken - thanks again NineMSN Sad

I have just got OzTivo's guide going - it relatively simple to use, outputs to 'raw' xmltv and doesn't use NineMSN data - it has a community based upload thingy going on.

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ght=oztivo (post #9) has some tips on setting up the configuration. I then set the batch file to run as a "scheduled task" every couple of days. You'll need to register with the oztivo crowd to set your channel requirements.

So far, so good.

Hmmm.......not sure where I came across it but I use a little program called tv_grab_au. Sources it's data from tvguide.org I believe. Nice and simple little commandline jobbie that Ive set up an even simpler batch file for.

I've set up a scheduled task to run the batch file each day, it fetches the guide for a week. GB-PVR then updates the EPG at a set time each day, after the grabber has updated. It's scheduled for some ungodly hour of the morning when the PVR is doing all it's transcoding of recordings and such.

Not sure if it's the best solution but it's been working well for me for the last 6 months or so. Email me if you want any of the files and instructions.

After several months of swapping between the various free grabbers, it seems they all eventually fail as the sites that they grab data from keep chaning the encryption (to stop free grabbers) which means one has to contantly change the EPG set-up. I am sick of it. So I am triallig IceGuide and so far so good. The guide data is much better quality than OzTivo (as it should be at $3/week). I'll post later and tell you how it goes after a few weeks.

They have some promo's on now. A free 30 day trial ( http://www.icetv.com.au/cgi-bin/webfreet...o_code=814 ). Also a 50% off sale unitl the end of Septeber 2006 ( http://www.icetv.com.au/50percent.php ). And a refer a friend special ( http://www.icetv.com.au/referral.php ) (feel free to add my id 'oster' as your referrer if you can't think of anyone else you'd like to give it to) Smile

It has been some time since I tried and it couldn't get Adelaide data. Not sure if that has changed in the last 6 months. Anyone know?

...I can't think of a way to answer that without offending people. Smile ...but to say, the programming is slightly different. (the TV stations broadcast different things as well) Wink

Thanks for checking though. I think I will give IceGuide a 3-month subscription and see how it goes. Maybe by then the guys at EPG*Stream ( http://epg.stream.net ) will have an XML guide working with Adelaide data.

Just a quick update to report that IceGuide has been workign really well this last month. Unfortunately I left it too late to subscribe with the 50% discount offer. Not sure I want to pay full price yet. Guess I have about a week to work it out.

Haha - I just shifted last week. I'm trying to survive with GBPVR over here and after a bit of fluffing around I thought it was easiest to stump up with a small bit of cash for a consistant EPG. I'll be doing some research in the next few months though on a better solution.
It was easy back home, bit trickier here. Nothing runs to schedule except the news from what I can see.
