Getting very excited now. I downloaded and install the free decoder and now have TV! I get the channels through the aerial reception complete with sound, timeshift works perfectly, I've just set a timed recording to check that works.

But...

The TV Guide is still empty despite several updates through the config (I'm in the UK so using the online facility for the UK). I did have to use the tuning assistant to get it tuned in as the EPG gave the wrong channel numbers. But the guide is still empty.

Also, when timeshifting it works perfectly. However, if I then go an play back the mpg file from the Video Library it is silent. Is there a setting I've missed or something else that needs installing/tweaking? I get the sound when timeshifting so I'm confident it must have recorded it.

Once these two issues are resolved I think I'm in business and it looks fantastic. Hadn't realised it shows live TV in small windows on various screens. Very useful.

I appreciate your support with this. Let's hope my remaining issues are easily solved.

Thanks again

Jon

Which EPG source did you use? The bleb one is unavailable at the moment (website down), but the owner hopes to have it back up soon. You'd need to use an XMLTV source.

Its probably something to do with your default audio decoder on your machine. Have you tried explicitly specifying which audio decoder you'd like it to use?

Hi Sub

Thanks for the prompt response.

I used Bleb and it looked like it downloaded fine each time (BBC 1 Day 0... Day 1... Day 2... etc. through BBC2, ITV 1 and Channel 4).

How would I setup an XMLTV source instead hoping that I don't have to manually download lots of XML files and then point GBPVR to them each time?

Regarding the audio, I've tried every combination of audio decoder starting the system default, then the GPL MPEG decoder, and every combination in the other options.

I'll have another go. If you can point me in the right direction regarding the EPG that would be great.

Thanks again

Its actually not that hard to use XMLTV. Most UK people use the Radio Times grabber from http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach your gbpvr.exe-native.log
